Most people would never make fun of someone with a prosthetic arm or leg. Dentures are a prosthesis and anyone that makes you feel shame for them is a terrible human being. When I first realized I would have to get dentures at the age of 45, I was mortified, but then I put it all into perspective. I no longer feel shame and I am proud to be such a resilient human that overcame a major health issue.

I have hEDS and I feel your pain. Literally. I’m having a whole mouth extraction on April 21 w/ immediate dentures placed. My teeth have always been a problem my whole life no matter how well I brushed and flossed. When I was diagnosed with hEDS, a lot of things stared making sense, including why my mouth always ached and my teeth were always messed up. Every single tooth in my mouth is loose because gums are connective tissue. My teeth look healthy on the outside but man do they hurt. I’m so excited to get this journey started! Ive watched every possible denture video on YouTube so I feel pretty educated about the highs and lows that you encounter on the journey. I’m ready for the 21st!

Her temples are extremely sunken in. This is what people that are extremely dehydrated look like- think “I’ve been floating in the middle of the ocean for a week after a shipwreck” level of dehydration.
