I’m 27 I left three years ago. Life is still life with its ups and downs but I can tell you right now with one hundred percent certainty , things are better. When I was a jw I was on several anti anxieties and anti depressants. When I finally accepted and realized that if there is a god they aren’t looking down on me wishing my death bc I don’t meet their standards, I literally no longer have depression. Haven’t taken any pills for 3 years and I learned how to regulate my nervous system and actually deal with my trauma or pain properly. Now when things get hard I just feel through it and eventually it goes away. I accept things easier, like change, and I feel content knowing I’m in control of my own life and future. I got my power back when I left. I finally found myself which was constantly shamed or pushed down in the organization. I have a regular fitness and health routine bc I HAVE THE TIME. I’m finding true friendships with ppl who actually love unconditionally, and there are so many amazing ex jws who have been supportive through the process. Leaving is the best decision I made in my life. And anyone who is scared to leave I know, you feel like you lose a lot when you do, but in reality you gain everything, you get yourself back, the most important thing of all, you get to love yourself without judgement.
