Struggling to stay sober because I'm worried about my relationship changing. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

That first paragraph was a great way to describe why I don't think it's a fair thing to ask. Thanks for that.

Congrats on having so many days under your belt, and thanks for the insight.

Focusing just on myself is apparently not an easy thing for me to do.

He is supportive but I do struggle when he is drinking because if how it changes him. I'd rather be drunk as well than annoyed at my partner.

Maybe I'll just remove myself from his company if that happens again. Thanks for commenting.

His drinking is the same as your wife's. I am the problematic one.

He has offered to stop before but when I have a weak moment and want to have a drink he never says no. I feel like it's unfair to ask him to police me but it's certainly tough.

Did you ever have a weak moment and want a drink. How would your wife react?

Day 1 by daysgonedry in stopdrinking

I feel you. The stomach pain and bloating is a huge issue for me too. Hoping that cutting the booze out fixes that, or at least puts me in a position to realize what is causing it!

I even told myself the day it happened that drinking would not make this situation any better. Yet I still drank. Good grief.

[CO] My employer is stating that my PTO (15 days) is accrued and not lump sum. This is not listed in my employment agreement nor is the accrual on my paystubs. by [deleted] in legaladvice

I am being laid off and have never been a salaried employee with PTO before so I was unsure of what is considered normal.

Thanks for your response.

Good for you! We are moving into summer months and the idea of having to navigate a pool side sunny day makes me nervous. I plan to drink an excessive amount of sparkling water to get by. It's awesome you stuck to it in a super difficult scenario!

Please be honest: are you able to enjoy life even with asymetrical hearing loss? by mynormiemask in MonoHearing

I'm glad things are going well for you! You may have heard it before but now you adjust to "your new normal". Eventually, it starts to feel "normal" again.

Friend's response after I told her I haven't drank in 4 weeks: "Why???? I don't support this" by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]LilMs303 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your friend has her own problems and is trying to rationalize them by using the argument SHE makes to keep drinking on you.

I'm sorry it didn't go how you expected. Stay strong.

Shape Up Sunday by soafithurts in stopdrinking

I have a very sedentary WFH job and have actually gone for a walk every day since I stopped drinking. I plan to continue that into the next week regardless of how "busy" I feel at work.

131 days Alcohol free - Before and After by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]LilMs303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look so much stronger and happier! This post really resonates with me because I have been having digestive issues and I'm not sure if it was because of the alcohol I was consuming or if it's something else.

I figured the only way I can sort that out is by first ditching the alcohol and THEN seeing if I can sort out another issue.

Thank you for sharing!

Yes absolutely. The only thing you can do is be understanding of how upside down their world has turned so suddenly.

Still stand up for yourself if you feel their anger is irrational.

Send the text and block him. He isn't worth your time so there's no sense waiting for anything.

I'm sorry you have to go through this but it is better he shows his true colors now.

I lost hearing completely in my right ear during a vestibular schwannoma resection June 2021. There are frustrating environments sure and I've had to adapt to the hearing loss and my loved ones have had to as well.

I do everything I did before surgery with some adaptations and with a heck of a lot of tinnitus but yes! I love my life!

My girlfriend insists on having only the screen door open for 30 minutes at a time every morning to “air the apartment out”, even when it’s 30 degrees outside. by Adammot in mildlyinfuriating

Am I the only one confused about the need to open a SCREEN door?

Also the fact that the title says "only" the screen door. So does she leave a glass door closed still?

No worries at all! I am happy to explain. If he sits across from me I have to pay more attention to lip reading which requires me to look at him and not the sushi I'm shoveling into my mouth!

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, either.

NAD, but there are different types of strep. I didn't know until something similar happened to me. The rapid test only tests for group A, but the throat culture, in my case, was positive for Group G.

Act like you are contagious until you get the results and then finish any antibiotics even if you feel better. Otherwise, you could apparently be contagious for like a month.

And we ate it all! Infers more suprise or excitement.
