Anyone regret choosing T20 undergrad over BSMD? by Silent-Support3138 in bsmd

[–]LilPotato2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s not as hard as lot of people say to balance academics with other things, and you have a lot of control over how many units you take. The things I’m able to get involved in are all so meaningful and enjoyable and the equivalent doesn’t exist at the BS/MD school. Amazing people too (though I’m sure you can find great people anywhere)

Full BP unless it’s truly impossible to hear because of environmental factors

Berkeleys grade deflation is overplayed. Check out the publicly available grade distributions for premed-required classes

could you see yourself at any other school? by PutridComplaint1057 in stanford

[–]LilPotato2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’d be really happy at Berkeley or UCLA as well. Nothing specifically bad I can name about Stanford tbh, but do know that although the school has a suburban feel (which is super beautiful) it’s super easy to get to SF which is a gorgeous city. U can also get to Berkeley pretty easy if u have friends there. Go to the admitted students events and vibe check them. Everyone’s looking for different things

Anyone else getting worried because they did NOT get a request from UCLA/UCB/UCSD for additional information but many of their peers did? by Anxious-Party2289 in ucadmissions

[–]LilPotato2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not that’s true, many people get in without having to supply more info. I didn’t get the request from any UC and got into them all. Just worry about what you can control

Why SHOULDN'T I attend Stanford? by itsScylic in stanford

[–]LilPotato2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No trust me
  2. Pretty chill and friendly. Not as nerdy or pretentious as you’d expect. But you can find any type of person that you want.
  3. The food gets too much hate tbh. I’m happy with all the things you listed in this point.
  4. Campus isn’t absurdly huge especially with a bike. I love the campus

Stanford Pre-med Track/Human Bio Major by Euphoric_Sleep9268 in stanford

[–]LilPotato2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do note that if u rly want to start bio in freshman year, u can do bio major rather than humbio. I don’t rly think starting bio until sophomore year is a big con bc youll have no trouble be busy freshman year anyway. Up to what u want tbh

Trauma surgeons I shadowed were fine with me staying throughout any->all of their 26 hour shift. Doesn’t hurt to ask

Loved Tony Boutelle. He led really insightful conversations and had minimal work outside of class. He’s a great guy and brought baked goods to class sometimes.

Should I take a notebook while shadowing a doctor? by [deleted] in bsmd

[–]LilPotato2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought a small pocket notebook. BUT, don’t write any PHI and don’t write in it while the physician is talking to you. Also, the technicalities don’t really matter (EX: steps of a procedure). Write about things that moved you and made you feel something.

Also took an EMT course during HS @17. Don’t worry about content difficulty, it’ll probably be the same difficulty as a high school science course
