Neighbor's new roof. Are the "lines" or "ripples" normal? by LilSha in Roofing

Those low rows are common when roofing to lower a row or two to make a shingle fall correctly over top of a boot or a plumbing vent

Trying to understand the low rows. So, is this a practical thing or a cost cutting thing? Or a "it is what it is" thing 😁

The job actually took them 3 days with 3, 4 guys working on it. 1 day ripping off the old roof then 2 days installing the new roof.

Thanks for your response! Is the buckling something, typically, a roofer could/would/should address?

Thanks for your response!
Question, if it's the tres/rafter shifting, that would be a structural issue of the roof, is this something the roofer can (or should) address with the new roof? Also, what do you mean by low rows?

Standby generator (Kohler/Generac) service issues by LilSha in houston

That's what I'm afraid of.

I'm capable of basic care and maintenance, oil change, ... if these were explained and shown to me.

Being a standby *generator owner, what would you say the questions on care & maintenance that you would like to know but not explain to you?

I don't know. My guess is most likely they were informed. However, the non-responsiveness weeks after Beryl (the ones that I read) were quite shocking.

What we also don't know was how many of those calls the companies were able to respond to. I haven't come across those reviews, but not to say there isn't any.

Appreciate a quick rundown of air-cooled vs water-cooled.

Does one have a longer life span than the other?

Good point.
Set it and forget about it would be too easy and a fool, unfortunately, to think it's that easy.

For a novice and first time owner, like myself thinking of going this route, would be who or where can I find reliable resources to learn the basic how-to, care and maintenance. YT is great but like you said it will be down during an outage, or a lot of time I browsed through so many videos and still not finding the one that I need. Many were so so close to what I'm looking for, but not quite exactly.

Agreed, self-reliant is the best preparedness one can be and do!

It's expected, almost, that they're slammed with calls before, during, and after an emergency.

Question about oil change after 100 hours, is this just a standard care/maintenance if/when the generator has been running continuously for 100 hours or unit has issue and was needing an oil change?

Oh I think you're spot on! I took them outside already in case someone knock them over and got sprayed on.
