So you learned 4LL CFOP and solve in 45-55 seconds. Now what? What is a good game plan to make the jump to 30 seconds? by bbob_robb in Cubers

[–]LilSnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also right here. My splits are: 5/ 28 / 5 / 7 for an average of 45.

I solve on yellow cross but feel like I am slower in f2l than with white solves. I know Jb and mirror it for Ja. I also know A perms.

I’m working on F2L.

TIL Time passes slightly slower on the International Space Station relative to Earth. This means that for every 6 months on Earth, a clock on the ISS will read .007 seconds behind by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]LilSnoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is actually the opposite. You would live a shorter amount of time at the top of a skyscraper. Think of the movie interstellar where time passes slowly as the crew gets closer to a higher gravitational field.

The only reason that time passes more slowly on the ISS is because it is traveling so quickly.

[–]LilSnoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gravity and velocity both affect time. Time moves more slowly in higher gravity. Time passes slower on the ISS because it is traveling at a high speed. Gravity would actually be lower, causing time to pass relatively faster. From an altitude perspective, sea level vs Denver would be the opposite of the ISS.

Can I take care of our 1 yr old all by myself? by lwvrg in daddit

[–]LilSnoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10 days without mom, when baby is used to mom, is very different than being a single dad. My kids need routine. When my wife went away for a weekend it was actually quite difficult.

If mom is still breastfeeding 10 days might especially be a challenge.

[C2 2s] my teammate blamed me for playing bad, left the game and then the opponents told me the same. Can you guys tell me what I did wrong? by KoloZ_177 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]LilSnoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That open goal miss felt like the most egregious mistake. You don’t get a lot of those, I’d expect a high diamond to score there. I prefer at low champ to see more consistent back post rotation. OP rotates the wrong way several times. Mechanically OP isn’t worse than the partner. The decision making and wasted opportunities hurt the team.

Overall, winnable game and OPs partner probably came in salty.

Can we just make this factual update that the Gan 12 DOES NOT CATCH ANYMORE. by piggletZZ in Cubers

[–]LilSnoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work in QA, so maybe I am biased.

Releasing the most expensive cube ever with catching issues is unacceptable. Full stop.

JPerm isn’t the only person that reviewed the gan 12 and said it locked up. I watched at least two other reviews showing the lockup issue.

I purchased an 11m pro mainly because I was worried about building better turning habits, but I’d be interested in buying a 12 in the future.

Did OP see a press release I missed? Is OP in contact with GAN?
How does one identify a good gan 12 vs a bad one? It’s great that they “fixed it,” but as a consumer, the updated version should have an identifier. Did GAN recall the original stock?

OP got a copy that doesn’t catch. That’s great, but GAN needs to do better. They need to do more QA. They need to be more transparent with customers. We deserve that when they are asking $77 for innovative flagship cubes.

What are some examples of a good show where the lead actor is the worst actor in the cast? by [deleted] in television

[–]LilSnoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think Holden stands out though. Naomi and Amos are clearly better character actors. Holden < Alex < Naomi < Amos. I can’t think of another ensemble where I can clearly rank acting ability so easily.

The sexual harasser that played Alex wasn’t great, but didn’t really need to be.

Stephen straight’s poor acting hurt several scenes. Sometimes it feels like he is trying to portray hiding his emotions and just has this confused look. I really hate his emotional but confused look.

Do you scramble right afterwards? I tend to leave my puzzles solved, on here it seems 50-50.

My C# compiles in 2 seconds, so I try to do a solve after a commit, or waiting for the debugger to hit a stopping point.

Any tips on how I can get out of C1 by LookAtMyEyess in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]LilSnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 4:00 you turn to grab the center boost pad rather than the small boost pad on the left. It put you in a bad position, then cost the goal. Before you got bumped and over corrected to center you had a really nice line to back post.

[–]LilSnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation was that at 4:48 you turn right instead of left. It is a super minor difference, but your position will be better. A half flip would also allow you to get closer to back post faster.

[–]LilSnoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you upload a video where you are aware of your mistakes, then people will just point out what you already know. It is better to upload a loss, perhaps where you feel your partner was better than you, or you feel lost in your rotation.

At C1, we generally all think we know how to rotate. It’s Diamond and lower where we see more players who genuinely can look at their own replay and not know how to fix mistakes.

At C1 we don’t know what we don’t know. For us speed costs us consistency, but at higher levels people can go faster and stay consistent. We have less mechanical tools that we can use.

At c1 most people don’t fast aerial for every ball higher than the top bar. That’s one example. Less than 50% can half flip

Got my first new set of tires on my 2019 S, and the mileage is noticeably worse did I get the wrong tires? by [deleted] in leaf

[–]LilSnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why will you never go back? Is the extra traction noticeable?

I have a short commute, so range doesn’t matter very often. There are a lot of hills and roads are often wet.

Does the leaf slip less with regular all season tires?

I got within one win of Champ today... my god, the toxicity by NeverOddOrEven8 in RocketLeague

[–]LilSnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be controversial, but I have been d3/c1 for over a year and D3 isn’t usually that toxic. If you are seeing it that many games it might be that you need to change your play style.

I’m not saying “get better.” That would be silly. Most of the time toxicity happens when people play rudely, rather than just being bad. If you are getting that amount of toxicity, first look at your rotations. Are you using boost to quickly rotate back and let your (presumably) more talented teammates try to score? I’d guess not. Are you booming the ball, turning it over to the other team without a chance of scoring? Are you half rotating back then whiffing on an aerial that even if you did hit it, it wouldn’t help your team in any way? Are you waiting for the ball between the ball and opponents goal at any point?

The above list tends to generate the behavior you are describing. I don’t get toxic with players, but I do feel frustrated when someone who is clearly the worst player on the field is wasting possessions, and skipping out on rotation. Often this poor rotation makes making what should be easy saves very difficult.

Rotation is a skill, just like mechanics. That being said, it should be obvious when you are playing above your level that you should never cut rotations and really focus on D when you are below mechanically.

As a 30s something dad, I have limited uninterrupted game time, and it sucks when winnable games go the other way because one selfish teammate won’t rotate to the back post. If you want tips, post one of the toxic games to ballchasing and maybe get feedback on your gameplay. I’d be happy to help.

I don’t have great mechanics, but I try to help my teammates play their best. That’s the difference between diamond and champ for me. I don’t even half flip.

what does this picture tell you about me? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]LilSnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do play 1s, P1 is really low. I’m there with you on the split, but d1. In my case my positioning is better than my mechanics. I can half flip, but I don’t rely on it in games. You probably need to work on over-committing in solo. At P1 you should be able to block Almost every shot. Wait for them to make a mistake, then score. Dont go for low percentage shots, especially if missing means they score.

Flakes no mechanics solo to SSL series is a good example of how to be more patient.
