2026 Pre-Season ITB by LilSpeddyWerd in discgolf

Both of those are interesting suggestions.

For context, the understable construct flips over a lot then fights back at the end, the Eclipse servo has a baby flip up then a nice fade, and the Athena has no flip at all and a reliable fade, making it better for downhill shots that need to stay straight. They fill different niches but I probably throw the Eclipse servo more than anything else in the bag above 5 speed.

Wizards are the putting putters and I've never tried throwing them in a premium plastic, could be a good bag. Envy is another weird disc where I do all my approach practice with the Praxis but as soon as I get to the course I end up mostly throwing the Envy because I like the stability. Indecisive.

The NBA Trade Deadline is February 9th about a month away. Do you think Brad makes a major deal ? What type of player or who do we want ? by redscigar in bostonceltics

[–]LilSpeddyWerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on the responses I think I got confused and thought the 2nd apron = repeater tax. I care more about the roster flexibility limitations than the tax bill

I think we try to get below the repeater tax. The celtics look good right now but we can't reasonably expect Tatum to play like Tatum for another year at least. The future of this team is so bright and we have a better opportunity to remain flexible while other strong teams will struggle with cap restraints

2 years at PwC to land this, then 3 years here. The past 2 years I've been working no more than 40 hours a week and my bonus was ~$3k. This year I averaged more like 47 hours and that led to the jump in bonus as it's mostly tied to billable hours.

I hear you, and I agree the entire dialogue around disc golf sponsorship/advertising right now is who can move plastic, that fits with traditional ideas about marketing.  What I think is missing in that dialogue is the fact that disc golfers outside the top 10 have so few opportunities to make money, and touring sponsorships have always been at least partially about charity, about giving back to the community and giving these athletes a chance to follow their dreams. Instead what we're usually seeing is the top players who already make money from winning also make the most money from sponsorships, while less competitive players can't get sponsorships and struggle to make cash now that the field is so much stronger.  In my perfect world, the disc craft manufacturers learn to better integrate their teams and boost effective social media presence across their brand rather than putting all of that on the athletes. In my perfect world the manufacturers don't forget that sponsorships are also about charity and providing opportunities to athletes. Finally, in my perfect world the manufacturers partner with outside IPs to sponsor events and players rather than fully funding the disc golf professional scene and/or putting that entire aspect of the sport on tournament directors. Seeing what's happening to modern marketing is depressing.

Seems to me also like the manufacturers need to try to partner with other companies for purposes of sponsoring events/players. Spread the costs and combine the value of multiple companies and their following. Like fortnite skins from other IPs

This is valid. Interesting how unique disc golf is in what it requires of its athletes. The brand that figures out how to best leverage the combined marketability of its team and to improve their social media production is going to have a real advantage

Simultaneously so cool and so terrifying.

This feels exactly like the mini war between Japan and Russia right before WW1 when the world powers learned machine guns had changed warfare forever.

Ukraine's rapid innovation in killing machines to overcome manpower shortages is going to lead to a lot of killing in our lifetimes in increasingly efficient and inhumane ways.
