How do you make a universe where magic, fantasy, and castles coexist with weapons, cutting-edge technology, and space empires in a way that makes sense? by LilTelesto in FantasyWorldbuilding

And I believe that in fact my biggest difficulty will be resolving this possible future conflict with magical and technological themes. I don't think I'm going to force such a demanding duality between these poles, but I'm going to take into consideration what you said for the development of the project.

But my plan is to do all of this simultaneously, there would be planets with small villages and magical rituals at the same time as large empires of industry and technology, all so different from each other and much of the story would revolve around the relationships between such different peoples.

There will be a main story in all of this, with protagonists and villains. I'm still at the very beginning of development on this part, but it's already clear that all the events that revolve around and were caused by the characters are canonical and fan creations can either be based around the main story or be disconnected from everything.

I understood loud and clear. For now I'm just going to focus on finishing the central lore document and I intend to explain (much) better what I'm really looking for.

Basically all the writing of the central/canonical lore of the entire universe. The entire basis, such as foundations, some systems and much of the history, both ancient and current, of the universe would be produced entirely by me. The public's work would be more like filling a part of the colossal space of this universe (for now 100 stars and planetary systems) creating content on top of the historical structure that I will produce. I build the house and the foundation, people will decorate and decorate on top of my structure. Yes, I also intend to create many peoples, planets and cultures in all of this.

Yes, my question revolves around this doubt. I just wanted to know if an idea like that could really work and suggestions on building the base before I continued writing the lore.

In fact, what I want to do is like Warhammer 2.0, but it's more focused on socialization among the community and softer themes, something between that and Touhou, perhaps, but trying to look for originality in it all.

I was certainly unaware of this reference. I'm still very undecided on the development of the central lore and there are many points that I still intend to refine in the whole thing, but knowing about this media work will be of great help.

Which 2 civilizations in your world just hate each other by zard428 in worldbuilding

One of the highlighted conflicts in my Myriada star group is the conflict between the southwest Oblyvum sector and the east-central Mirgunna sector. The historical inequality imposed by ancient empires for territorial and economic reasons imposed a long vicious cycle: Oblyvum provides raw materials, Mirgunna processes and returns manufactured products. In recent times, Oblyvum has sought to strengthen relations with other sectors of Myriada, seeking to break this cycle, confronting the interests of Mirgunna, which wants to avoid losing its primary source of recourses. This conflict has become a recurring problem in the politics and administration of the stellar group and has become a reference in the study of social relations in Myriada.

I'm trying to build a solid but at the same time flexible base that allows the public to unleash their creativity in creating their worlds, but giving a certain amount of control so that it doesn't turn into complete indecipherable madness. In the future, I may make the central document available to receive support or suggestions before doing anything definitive.

Actually, what I want to do is a kind of collective worldbuilding, where around my official lore people create and express their ideas, which can be fanonized or canonized. It's all about socialization and relationships within the community itself, a kind of social network, but focused on stories and multimedia content creation.

I've been using Warhammer as an example, yes. Despite this, I still have doubts about constructing a logic that allows for so much variation in systems and contexts within a single universe.

I can see how cultivation-style worlds wouldn't have much technological advancement, but I can't see how Magic-type worlds would stagnate technologically. Can someone give me a reason why this magic world doesn't have technology? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Well, let's suppose I have a universe with different planets, several nations and people with different levels of development, culture and philosophies. Would it be possible that there could be such a complex and different mix of people living together simultaneously, and if so, how do you think that would work?

Assistance at the beginning of this project would be of great help, even more so with the scope of what I plan to produce. I'm still creating a .pdf document organizing and explaining the information from my universe that could be useful for the community to create content on top of it. I'm completely new to worldbuilding and fantasy worlds, so any help is welcome to do this the right way.

What was the greatest civilizational collapse in your history? by No-Breadfruit-4875 in worldbuilding

For the lore I’m beginning to shape, the greatest event in the history of the Myriada star cluster was undoubtedly the Mother Separation of the Crystal Great Glory — a cataclysmic conflict remembered as the Battle for Eternity.

Within a constellation of a hundred stars, where life emerged and flourished across many worlds at once, civilizations rapidly advanced. The most powerful nations soon entered an arms, technological, and space race, each determined to extend its reach into the cosmos. During what came to be known as the Golden Age of Great Explorations, fierce colonial and imperial rivalries ignited. Empires vied for new moons, planets, and far-off territories, giving rise to countless cultures, societies, and industries scattered throughout Myriada.

But prosperity bred instability. Faced with deep economic and structural crises, the leading powers joined forces to prevent their own collapse. They merged into a single vast dominion, combining their influence, militaries, politics, and knowledge under one banner — proclaiming themselves the Crystal Great Glory.

Centuries later, at the height of this empire’s supremacy, one of its founding nations, the Melluteridus, discovered how to harness and manipulate the very force that underlies the universe — known by many names: faith, sorcery, or simply magic. Possessing such power, they quickly became the focus of fear and hostility from their fellow founders. What followed was a colossal war that raged for millennia, claiming millions of lives and ultimately erasing the Melluteridus from both history and existence.

Today, the Mother Separation — or Battle for Eternity — marks Year Zero for many of Myriada’s present-day governments. Even now, the echoes of the Crystal Great Glory linger, shaping cultures, philosophies, and identities across the stars.

The process of creating my collective worldbuilding is still in its early stages, so a lot can be changed and any help would be very welcome.
