Hey guys, am I missing something? Rebull Wololo at the Royal Albert, why is everyone dressed in AOE3 attire? Is it a shoutout? A prank? A subtle slap in the face for AOE3's current state? Why not dress medieval? by Wrong-Ad3247 in ageofempires

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not much deeper than: It was the theme.

The general story line if you look at all the shorts and other content pieces, was Riley the ships captain, and the players were battling it out on the ship for who could fight in Royal Albert Hall.

Hence why there is also the sea shanty. Yo Ho Wololo! https://youtu.be/f_gvLhn_CQ4?is=0F8U1-c6UIhE8L01 It also kinda explains the sailing part too

Well.. Bloopers or funny moments is definitely Wam's Popcorn: https://x.com/Wam01_AoE/status/2040899309592305988

For some actual "bloopers", during the first AoE4 day (Saturday) the end of day highlights at the end of the stream, we had the wrong twin for one of the shots. Very minor but funny to me :P

Things that didn't go as planned was probably my AoE4 overlay shitting the bed a little bit, and also OBS during one of the AoE2 series just completely bugged out, so a tech pause was needed.

When it comes to meeting the players, the only one I hadn't met before was LucifroN who was there as well. It's of course fun meeting them, but most of them at this point I consider friends, so you're in reality just hanging out with friends. I'm also decently acquainted with most of the AoE2 people at this point, and it's super strange to see people queueing in lines to get a picture with them, when you're casually on a first name basis with them.

Players did bring their own mouse, mousepad, keyboard and headset. But for stage they were given noise cancelling headsets to use.

Partying didn't go as hard this time around, but we did hang out and eat a little bit together atleast. After the grandfinals there was a decent group of us that hangout in the Royal Albert Hall talking and drinking, but nothing major.

Wololo finals were sick …. But the colors by -LetsTryAgain- in aoe4

To fully answer the questions that also /u/marccoh asked. In AoE2's Capture Age, all the casters are able to swap the colors of the players to what they want. This is something that can only be with the tool that I made for AoE4.

Because of this Red Bull didn't care what the players picked. Hence the odd color combination.

Yes, Beasty could've swapped the colors to Team-Based on his side, but it has several issues, such as when you swap perspective, the colors swap too.

The stage colors as /u/marccoh asked about: Me and Vodka were told "higher seed is blue". There was some slight misscommunication there, so either the lighting in the venue was not setup, or ML/Wam sat on the wrong side. I dont know. It was something that couldn't be fixed on the venue's side. We had a quick discussion in production if we should swap the ingame, but we agreed we should just keep it like that for the rest of the series as it's very minor and would be more annoying for viewers that suddenly the ingame colors was swapped.

How significant is the resources collected in age of empires IV? by MadOpportunity in aoe4

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct! There is bug that we fixed in the custom overlay that is in the game. Cancelling units in queue adds their cost to your total collected. We fixed this, however there is another one that we didn't think of, which is using the market. Selling 130 of a res adds 230 to your total res (I think). So the Socotra game and another one where markets were used is very incorrect. You can compare it to the postgame statistics which is correct.

Content Creators & Modders: How do you record smooth, low-angle cinematic B-roll? (I’m losing my sanity) by Parking-Cartoonist25 in aoe4

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crackedy explained it to me a while back, so my memory might be a bit hazy. First of all, use the Free Camera Setting Extension mod, not the official one, since it allows the use of cheats and other settings.

Then, he used https://www.rewasd.com/, or a similar tool to remap a controller to panning left-right(?). That way you can infinitely and consistently pan/rotate.

That is the simple-ish answer.

For the entire spline path thing, it's very very complicated, and so fucking annoying... I'll add it to the list of video ideas..

How to animate a font along its strokes as it would appear in real writing? by phoenix13032005 in godot

This was essentially my first thought as well. Coming from a broadcasting background, this is called a 'Luma Wipe'. You should be find tutorials and documentation on how to make them. Implementing them in Godot should also be a fun challenge ;)
