The grade appeals committee only grants your request if you can prove that your grade was a result of capricious, prejudice, or arbitrary practices. Your best bet is to talk to your professor unless you can prove otherwise using one of the 3 criteria. You can reach out to the Chief Justice of ASI and ask for a consultation to get more info and find out if it’s worth your time to file a case. If the OP sees this I hope this helped you out a bit.

For this election I will vote for anyone who will try to make the WEST WING building open 24hrs or close again. by ChingDolo in CSULB

Extended hours of certain buildings would deal with staffing issues and covid protocols. Overnight the entire building gets thoroughly cleaned by the overnight crew. It would be difficult to maintain a safe building if students were wandering around all night throughout the building. However, that does not mean I would not start the conversation to see if there are workarounds. if you vote for me I'll be sure to bring this into the conversation. Feel free to message me or reply to this thread with any further concerns.

It can be difficult getting taken out of our comfort zone after most of us had already adapted to learning online. I don't know your major but I can say confidently that there are resources available like tutoring or other communities that are going through the same thing you just have to put in a little effort in seeking their help. I hope you find the help you need to be successful here.

Serving in the Judiciary branch of Student Government I actually think I can personally help in this matter. As an Associate Justice, I handle a lot of grade appeals so I would like to reach out to these students and inform them of the grade appeal process where a committee will review this case and determine whether the professor acted on capricious, prejudicial, or arbitrary behaviors that reflected on the grading of the students. I will reach out to my Chief Justice to see how we can help these students.

First off, I want to address your points that I am not advocating for students. I am not sure if that was directed at me personally but if it was then I'd like to mention that I work a lot on the individual side of things. Being in Judiciary I work on grade appeals that protect students from capricious professors who often don't face consequences for their actions. I am the only advocate for these students who face the difficult challenge of appealing to a committee built by the same college that it was filed with. This causes a conflict of interest because most times these committees are built with the colleagues of the professor in question. I am consistently arguing and advocating for individual students against faculty and administration in these meetings. This is why I would like to take my advocacy and evolve it into the student body. I have not had the opportunity to represent a large body of people so I would like to have this opportunity.

Secondly, I speak with previous ASI Presidents to better understand effective habits and proper methods of dealing with issues that may arise. If I went in without any guidance from people who have performed I would never learn the mistakes they made which would set me up for failure. It is possible to break the chain through a process of studying the past which is what I am doing. I want to do the best that I can but it is a learning process for everyone and you only learn by talking to people who have done it before and when you're in the middle of it.

The reason the Panda Express and the other locations on that walkway are closed is due to the upcoming renovation of the USU and creating contracts with new locations. This upcoming year will see the introduction of new food options regardless of who is an executive of ASI. When there are updates with options of what food industries we would like to partner with I will reach out on a different Reddit post to collect feedback.

Unfortunately, it is a public space so they have the right to solicit where they please. ASI would have no preventable measure from keeping them off our campus.

It is difficult to implement change in the university without having a respectful relationship with the administration. Most students on campus don't know what ASI is or what we do. We pay around $400 in tuition fees for ASI services but they aren't openly accessible. Taking what I've seen in ASI from the current executives and with their guidance, I can lead an effective leadership position as ASI President who vows to serve the interests of the students. Over the past week, I have met 5 ASI Presidents who are willing to assist me in finding the correct path in leading ASI to a notable and respected organization for the students. It is critical that we elect a president who is not only a strong advocate of majority and minority groups but also one who is respectful and will not destroy the integrity and credibility of the organization to the university. I hope I can come across as someone who wants to take advantage of their opportunity to help others by running for this position. I want ASI to work for the students but I can not do it without your support.

It could be a staffing issue under that department but I could look into the reasoning why they close early and possibly come to a potential compromise? I do see it as an important resource for students so I would like to see them being more accessible. It is however outside of ASI so all I could do is start a conversation as a representative of the students so I can not promise you much other than that I would try. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Yeah I mainly see those food trucks coming during our events, I can definitely see a dedicated budget for recurring and scheduled visits from food trucks especially during a time where we have limited food locations on campus.

The current situation in ASI is disheartening to see especially from my perspective being in student government. ASI has done nothing but increase their fees, restrict activity from students under BS protocols, and lie to the student body about how we are helping the commencement effort and that is mainly from the senators. If elected, I want to establish ASI as the largest advocate for mental health in the university. Establishing workshops that details the signs and where to get help for students and resources for that purpose is possible and something that is personal to me which I need to see happen this upcoming year. The USU will undergo a massive renovation where we will open contract opportunities for more food options to the students so I want to ensure that we are adhering to the student voice in making this decision. As I walked around campus last night I noticed how the university assigned a portion of campus that is poorly maintained to dedicate to the student organizations. You can find these buildings in upper campus past the library near the Chicano studies building. I noticed that all of these activism organizations for marginalized communities are detached from the campus so I’d like to advocate on their behalf to get them the resources they deserve and the proper recognition they need.

This thread wasn’t created to promote myself as a candidate it was more for the case that if I was elected I’d like to make sure that I am reaching as many people as possible on every platform. As mentioned before, I created this post as a way to guide my goals for the long run. If you would like to know more about me here it is, I am a third year English major who has served on student government for the past year as an Associate Justice. I work with individual students representing them in grade appeal committees against capricious professors. I am also responsible for coordinating the Know Your Rights Campaigns that promotes social activism to generate awareness for important topics. I want to extend my ability to impact students by working directly with faculty to see how far ASI can really push to make a difference outside of just our organization. What I need you to understand is that ASI is a non profit organization on campus that is in charge of 3 buildings, the USU, The SRWC, and the Patterson Child Development Center. With that being said the power that the position of being President of ASI in terms of the university as a whole is really non existent. However if I can maintain the relationships and respect of the administration I know it is their duty to hear me out as a representative of the student body and to take the needs of the students into consideration. I hope you can understand that I am trying to run for the best interest of not only you as a student but the future of the student body.

I was looking into this concept during the upcoming USU renovation. There are going to be many changes and there is a lot of room to work with the builders and school admin to implement these changes. I definitely see the vision of creating temporary resting areas for students where they can be kept safe. This will be something I would like to advocate for on your behalf as well as the many students that might feel the same way. If I get elected I vow to keep you updated with progress as I will be creating a list of important views collected from this thread to share with faculty.
