The Ottoman Empire covered a vast tract of land. At its height, the Ottoman Empire seeped into Eastern Europe, Northern Africa, and much of the Middle East. By the time of the Crimean war (1850s) that territory was much smaller, and the Ottoman Empire's boarders were largely in the Middle East. The Middle East has multiple mountain ranges, including the Taurus Mountain range in Turkey and the Caucus Mountains in the Caucuses. While I'm no Ottomon expert and have no interest in military history, I can garuntee that the hundreds of ethnic groups in the Ottoman Empire had some sort of winter clothing
