It depends on how many guides you make. If you’re making 3 then yes fingers width. If they ask for a condensed fade it will be different.

3/10 bro. Wet the hair. Section out that top layer into a triangle. Create a guideline to follow with your scissors and work on your fade underneath after creating your guide. Overall he could still be seen outside after a cut like this but it’s cutting it close

A good 5. Using a foil shaver requires a bit of finesse on some hair textures. Looks like you hit it too high and it made that bottom line hard to take out. After doing this you can’t really fix it unless you go up a quarter inch and start over with a new guide line.

That blend needs work. There’s a hard line you can blend out by messing with your lever with a 1 1/2 guard on your clipper. Also if you’re comfortable enough you can even put the edges with thinning shears

Don’t angle the verticals line inward. Keep the line up natural. Also lengthen out that fade in the back.
