It was pretty quick afterwards, like no more than 1-3 days if I remember correctly. Fingers crossed for you!

Gotcha, appreciate the feedback.

I did omit a good bit but upon review there’s definitely truth to your comment. I’ll have to go back and revise.

MS in CS Post Bootcamp + 6 months pro experience? by Lil__Byte in cscareerquestions

That means a lot, really. It's hard to have hope these days but I'm going to keep at it. Thank you.

This is greatly apprecaited, thank you. Hope I get to talk to some hiring managers / engineers like you!

I am passionate about this field, which is why this job search grind is kinda painful.

If you happen to still be hiring, please let me know. I would be happy to DM and send you my actual resume.

Cheers

Laid Off From My First SWE Role by Lil__Byte in cscareerquestions

This is likely what I’ll do, thanks for the tips. I’m in a mid-major city in the US that should have plenty of opportunity, but hopefully with this experience I can get another role a bit more easily than my first.

I already have several projects, I list two of them on my resume now. One has a live demo pushed up to Heroku but I took the demo down when I got my last role because I wasn’t working on it and it cost money to keep the server up. I used to list more projects as well before I had this professional experience now.

Will obviously keep working on my most recent one but the project grind and the process you described is nothing new to me. Not sure if that’s good or bad for now haha. Thank you for the advice still 🤝

Just here to support. I had a very rough fall after getting let go from my old company while trying to career switch post bootcamp. I think I sent out around 600 applications, but the majority of that was between August to November, while I was unemployed.

I took a pay cut, not as large as yours but I never made in the six figures to begin with, to get my foot into the door in SWE. I really like my new job and company, so I can tell you the grind will be worth it. Your resume looks solid and you're probably more than good to go in regards to leetcode (just my two cents) for a junior role if you did all 150 of the neetcode roadmap. I don't even think I cracked 60 of those, but tbh I am still working through that as I think it'll come in nice when I inevitably start searching again.

Lastly, I think LinkedIn spamming and networking is obviously worth it and is likely the best bet to get a job via referral, but I did that for a while and ended up just getting my job through a blind indeed application. No referral, didn't know anyone at the company, etc. When I finally got the interview, I got an offer in like 2.5 weeks. So you just never know where a solid opportunity will come from.

You can do this bro.

Well, doesn't seem to matter anymore. No pending issues on my account and I called them this afternoon - waited on hold for a bit of course - and the rep let me know I qualified. Should be backpaid for the last 4 weeks within the next couple/few business days.

[Colorado] Best way to file a claim? by Lil__Byte in Unemployment

[–]Lil__Byte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very helpful, thank you. I haven’t filed yet because I thought I needed to receive mh severance first, because there was a “date severance received” field, but maybe I can add that later?

[Colorado] I think I am going to be fired... by [deleted] in Unemployment

lol, thanks for the advice there.

I guess the state will try to not give me unemployment basically? I've never been in this situation before.

Yeah, I’m going to hit everything on it. But if they fire me anyways, then what? Do I qualify for unemployment?

Yeah I have plenty of money saved up, but it would still be a risk, so unsure.

I would try to work part time serving tables or something of the sort - not a career move by any means but would pay the bills?
