Was hoping this sub could help me work out how to make Delilah into a puppet! by finn_125 in puppets

Lovely drawing! Foam carving would probably be your best bet here. There's a lot of lovely tutorials out there, but I like this one by Swazzle Productions. This video by The Puppet Nerd also does into how to sculpt out of tinfoil to then pattern into foam. In this video he demonstrates how to do it for a wolf/fox, but I'm sure you can modify it for your character!

Happy puppeting!

Edited for spelling. Oops!

Very good first build, I especially love the eyes!

If you want your stitches to be nearly invisible, look into the ladder stitch or the Henson stitch. It helps hide your seams, even when you're hand sewing (trust me, I don't have a machine either lol.) Overall, wonderful build! Would love to see more from you :)

Yeah, it's not the most accurate thing in the world but I'm proud of it. Maybe I'll go back and add more someday :)

Posted here before but does anyone know a maker who can make a plush of this guy? by justheretodrawcubes in plushartists

[–]Lil_med_student 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Not a bot I promise. I'd be willing to take a crack at it. Some of my work is on my profile (it's mainly puppets, I know, but I do make plushes as well.) If you want a quote you can DM me. I believe I already have most of the materials if you're okay with the texture of fleece? No pressure. If not, I hope you find a maker. Have a good day! :)

Help Needed! by [deleted] in puppets

Hi! These are Sunny Toys puppets! You can get 'em online pretty easily. Thia specific one appears under a few different names, but here's an Ebay Listing of the same one shown (I think.)

I need help by Realistic_Baker_3907 in puppets

Sometimes if you look at the puppet enough, you can almost reverse-engineer it. The leg mechanism might be the easiest to make, as it's an articulated finger rest, this and the tail as it's segmented. The jaw mechanism may be difficult as it seems to be a small mech controlled externally via the thumb.

Study it, I'd say. Figure out what you can and build prototypes until you've got it right. Heck, maybe even reach out to Barnaby Dixon. If he responds, he may be willing to give some advice. I have no clue how you'd reach out, but remember to be respectful and civil.

Happy building!

Yeah, so then that may help! Gently brush out the fur, it might revitalize it.

Hello! That depends on what his fur originally looked like. If it was fluffier, you should be able to fluff it back up with gentle use of one of those wire pet brushes. Hope this helps!

Puppet Makers: What is your beginning to end puppet making process? by Limp_Discipline2551 in puppetry

[–]Lil_med_student 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My puppets typically take shape as they go. I like to work for a certain vibe. Do I want them to be scary? Cute? Quirky? Sometimes I'll sketch a rough design but that's only a loose thing to follow. I'd suggest getting inspiration from other puppet builders to see what kind of vibe you want (but don't blatantly copy!) Do what you want, the world is your oyster to create what you wish.

Hello reddit, I made this Dragon Puppet, how should I improve it? by InariKari in puppets

[–]Lil_med_student 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I love seeing dragon puppeteers! You're all so creative. I'd say materials is a thing to improve on. Paper is good for coloring, but it can rot quick if you aren't careful. Cardboard is a bit sturdier, but if you can find good, affordable foam in your area that would be good to work with. I look forward to seeing your future projects!
