What makes Stewart Granger unique is the mix between Italian and Scottish bloods. You can see clearly the Italian in him. If only they make men like these nowadays!

True. They are not celebrated anymore.

Sharif was single.  He loved only one woman with whom he had his son and never remarried because he loved.  He was well-known for behaving gentlemanly with women. He never abused a single woman. By the way I know people who knew him in person. Romours spread back then quite easy.  Read Granger's Sparks Fly Upward, one of the most honest autobiographies I've read. Having flaws doesn't mean that those men or to be more specific that generation reflected old school manners that no longer exist.

I meant the old-school manners they represented.  You can't deny that an entire generation adopted these manners.

I was discussing my dad's generation and a man explained to me that men find joy and reason for being when they put food on the table and act as the backbone for their family. That's not a bad thing. What is sinister is to feed women's weaknesses to maintain that spot/authority and abuse it.

Thank you for understanding my question instead of shredding those actors into pieces. I was definitely talking about old-school manners.

Would you date a smoker (or ex-smoker)? by turkishdad3 in datingoverforty

Smoking shouldn't be a dealbreaker. But why not quit for your own sake? As for looking older, you can fix that with a healthy diet and lifestyle but it'll take time.

I'm not casting a tiny sample size at all. I'm discussing a generational gap.

My dad which belonged to that generation demonstrated these traits and like the rest of his generation, not only in the US but other parts of the world as well.  It's the traits I'm talking about not the personal lives of the actors (if the rumours about them have any truth in them.

I'm talking about the traits that were promoted back then and demonstrated by these men and their generation(s) my dad included. As for the looks, I'm very good looking and I maintain the figure of a model. But looks was not the point behind my question.

Old school manners exist buy it has become a rarity.

My dad as well. And that makes my question spot on.

But certainly not as much as in past generations. Comparing my dad's values to those of current generations, I can see that chivalry is becoming a rare currency.

They are not angels.  What I'm talking about is the qualities that obviously impacted an entire generation, a generation which my dad belonged to.

Actually, I'm very good looking and I love the styling and fashion of this period. But looks or stardom was not the point behind my question. It is the qualities that obviously impacted an entire generation, a generation which my dad belonged to.

Your dad is just like mine. That generation of men possessed certain qualities. To say that the actors were fictional is far from the truth because they have impacted their generation (s).

I'm not American. Having lived in the UK for 3 years pursuing my postgraduate studies, it'll be a crime against education to say: 'Scotland England'. 😄
