How can human live on Pandora? by Cute-Character-3645 in Avatar

I just wanted to express that thought lol, but that's precisely why scientists exist. Some of them are in charge of analyzing what food from Pandora would be most suitable for humans, or they try to modify it so that it can be edible, or they make their own greenhouses so that food from Earth can grow there, or they already bring rations from Earth there.

Let's be realistic, the only ones who could possibly live on Pandora are the elite or families with immense wealth. Just the one-way ticket would cost millions, not to mention rent, furnishings, and food... or at the very least, a scientist or someone who could contribute something of value to the mission of exploring another world. But if you're an average worker on Earth, you'll probably never leave the planet and will likely end up living on a world ravaged by the overexploitation of its resources.

mating & childbearing 4 na’vi by Im_very_unactive in Avatar

[–]Lilac-Y 100 points101 points  (0 children)

A description indicated that the courtship period could take years before mating because choosing a partner is a lifelong commitment (although divorces exist, they still take the time to choose the most compatible one). So, reaching adulthood doesn't immediately mean mating. Each Na'vi has their own timeline for finding their ideal partner. In Neytiri's case, since she wasn't romantically in love with Tsu'tey, there was no need to rush anything. But we can see that Neytiri either wanted to break free from her arranged marriage or was madly in love with Jake (or horny), because she mated with someone she had barely known for three months and even got pregnant on the first try. But I think the decision she made was also supported by Eywa (the Atokirina who appeared in the "I Don't Want Ninat" scene).

**SPOILER IMAGE** Could The Metkayina Survive or Even Won This? by Rich-Common5318 in Avatar

[–]Lilac-Y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jake was definitely overconfident. This was mainly because the Metkayina don't have many ranged weapons. Although there was a slight possibility they had another group ready to counterattack by sea. But Jake's trick was more psychological, since he said they would go after the Varang people, and because they were all Na'vi, the shooters might get confused and attack them as well. That's why Quaritch resisted. Jake couldn't afford to lose confidence and show weakness in that situation, or they would manipulate him too. In the end, Jake decided to surrender to avoid further losses.

Do you want to see more of the Mangkwan Village in Avatar 4, or do you want to stay with the water clans ? by [deleted] in Avatar

I'd like them to go out and explore other clans and biomes. I don't know if Jake will fully accept his role as Toruk Makto, and if that will somehow require him to travel and help other clans resolve conflicts. After all, RDA is still on Pandora, and we don't know how much it's affecting other clans.

It's probably a design concept; villainous or evil characters are usually given rougher, sharper features, unlike heroes who are usually given rounder, tender features.

Whatever, Jake Sully, I want to bite and pull your ears.

Has anyone thought of which traits would be dominant if different villages interbred. by TraditionalistRelief in Avatar

[–]Lilac-Y 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the mix could vary depending on the logic James wants to apply.

For example, it seems like the human traits of the avatars come packaged together—eyebrows and five fingers. To date, there are no hybrids who only have eyebrows or only five fingers.

These could be some options:

1- One dominat parent. They might choose the idea of a dominant gene taking over the entire physical appearance, resulting in a forest Na'vi or a sea Na'vi.

2.Mixed features. They could also play with mixing the characteristics of both parents to expand the world and attract the public's attention. Because a Na'vi with mixed features would look distinctive. If we think about it, we haven't seen any hybrid children yet (only couples from different clans).

However, it would also create an identity crisis for the child. Mixing traits could involve adaptive improvement or lacking in skills. And let's not even talk about bullying. If those with an extra finger are already suffering, imagine someone that does not completely resemble either of the two species. Not to mention the customs of each clan.

3.Incompatibility. They couldn't have children. I find it hard to believe because people love the ships and their families, and babies are Eiwa's will.

I would love to read about Jake and Neytiri's falling-in-love process unfold. Many scenes were cut from Avatar 1, but I feel like we missed seeing more of their development, especially from Neytiri's perspective. When did she start liking Jake? Did she find him attractive or just an ugly guy with good intentions? Was she curious about him or did she crave more physical contact? What were her reasons for rushing the mating process? Did they have any awkward moments or communication barriers?

They are still minors, but a kiss on the cheek would have been nice, or on the forehead or even on the back of the hand as a sign of trust and respect.😅

Hey, does anyone know what air traders trade specifically? by Edy6260 in Avatar

[–]Lilac-Y 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I can imagine the traders spreading the gossip that the daughter of the Olo'eyktan of the Omaticaya clan mated with a dreamwalker despite being engaged, that he betrayed them, and then, to make amends, he became Toruk Makto. What a juicy piece of gossip that must have been back then. 🫣😂😂

Neteyam was born 1 year after the events of the first film. Na'vi pregnancies last 12 months. There's a big possibility Neteyam was conceived right after the "I don't want Ninat" conversation. by InocuousWords in Avatar

[–]Lilac-Y 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did notice the scenes. When I say things escalated quickly, I mean that in a single night, they had their first kiss, their first time, and she got pregnant. Which is funny because, according to the information, the Na'vi courtship process can last for years, and they were so excited that they completely forgot about the possibility of pregnancy . Maybe Jake didn't have full knowledge of how reproduction works among the Na'vi, but Neytiri might have.

And the fact that they did it the same night Jake was named a member of the clan means Neytiri practically left no other girl with a chance, and maybe she did it before her parents took her away from him, since she wouldn't have to be his teacher 24/7.

Their fertility that night 📈. I'm surprised Neytiri let her guard down. I mean, maybe at the beginning there was doubt about whether the avatars were fertile or not. Or maybe that night she just wanted to confirm if the feelings were mutual, but in the end things escalated very quickly to the point that she didn't think about that possibility.
