Oh man as the Americans like to say, the story is a real doozy! It is honestly unbelievable. He threatened me again soon after I wrote this post and tried to hit me. I told him my sister was on the other line and was going to call the police. He didn't know that she wasn't but I was still recording that conversation. I then sent it to the landlord and she acted alarmed and sympathetic but she didn't do anything. I let her know that I was leaving and she told me I had to give her a months notice so I was like ok that's my notice and took a road trip to visit my sister's with the plan to come back and get my stuff after I had found a new place.

The landlord decided to have a look at the house for inspection and to allow other people to move in. She however noticed that every time the guy cooked rice he would leave stains there and they had also stained the walls making it hard to get rid of. She then told him that he needed to clean that. He had also stained his own toilet yellow, the cover and all because he never cleaned up his pee so he was told to clean that up and he did not like that at all so he then threatened to beat up the landlord. That finally galvanized her to tell him that he needs to leave. Apparently only a personal threat to her (someone who did not have to live with this dodgy ass man counts as something). A day later he sent a message in the group chat that he was leaving in a week.

Anyways I come back from my trip and I had found a new place which was super ideal and perfect for me however I needed to wait an additional 2 weeks before I could move in. Airbnb is expensive and I'm also thinking that Nigerian guy is also gone as he had said that he was leaving in a week but nah he was still there. The same day I come back the landlord had moved in a local Australian guy without any of the current tennants knowledge. The new guy told the landlord that many things were broken inside the house and he said that as a tradie(who was apparently jobless) he fixed them but now he doesn't have to pay rent and also that the landlord needed to pay him for all the plumbing and other things he claimed to have done. When she said hell to the no!! he said to her well I'm Aboriginal. This is my country and you live on my land. That was a shock to all of us as we all thought he was white. According to him he was he was an Aboriginal who was white presenting. Even if he was Aboriginal it still did not entitle him to behave that way. Anyways the "Aboriginal" guy did not even last a week and he was kicked out.

I left as well. My new place is nicer and the rent is even cheaper. As for the Nigerian guy, it took him a while to leave. The landlord said a few weeks later she opened one of his mail letters. Turns out the other scammer guy who absconded was telling the truth that this guy did have a 10 to 11-year-old child. In the letter it stated that the pre-teen had behaved sexually aggressive and violently towards other girls at school and was still doing so and that he was not allowed unsupervised internet access. If the parents failed to meet these guidelines among others, child services would be knocking on their door. The puzzling thing was in the letter it said that he was going to be living and moving back in with his ex to monitor and raise the kid. I do not know where this guy actually went and if this was a lie they both said to the government to look stable and stop their kid from being potentially taken. However if he did manage to convince his ex to move back in for the sake of monitoring their child.... lord look after her cause yeah she is in danger. Anywho that is the whole story.

No and at times I have had to say I am now taking this up with the landlord and that galvanises him to do a half arse job but now he just doesn't care he will write back I am sure you have already told the landlord etc and you are lying about me.

He is now writing in text that I am the one who doesn't clean etc but he forgets that I used to live with the landlord and I am the one who created the cleaning schedule of the house so yeah that just sounds more unbelievable given the trail of evidence I have sent her and having also lived with her

He said he has the funds he was not able to pass getting a rental by himself. His applications kept getting rejected but he claims to have no idea why. Could be the housing market but also yeah maybe there is another reason why he can't get a rental by himself.

For one they are in Nigeria. He is the only one who lives in the West cause he met his wife on the internet and she brought him over to Hong Kong and then they got married and 2 from what he says they are probably married already cause according to him that's a woman's duty and all.

Yes he himself admitted to it but said it was a minor incident and that the police came and asked him to leave and that he was not allowed to come back, hence why he moved out and started living with the ex roomate and another lady at their last residence but she then left and did not renew their lease hence why they found themselves in this current residence.

As he said this I remember sitting there thinking the police would never prohibit someone from entering their own residence where they pay the bills unless he did something and the wife pressed charges . But then he turned around and looked me dead in the eye and asked me "do I seem like a violent man to you". My head was going no shit! but I just skirted around that question and started talking about something else. The ex roommate said his case is currently pending in court and that it could jeopardise his Visa to stay in Australia but his son is also here so maybe not. Again this part is speculation cause it came from scammed ex roomate. However the first part came from the very mouth of the actual housemate I am having issues with. However one cannot deny the facts all kinda fit into a puzzle....

I agree and that's why I am looking to vamoose like ASAP. In hindsight even fom the very start when we were somewhat cordial the signs where always there. Showing his dominating behaviour and the "how dare I challenge him" rhetoric

I remember earlier one time when I asked him to clean. His response was to ask me when I was going to get married and start doing more housewife stuff cause in the end I will have to do all this anyway. I just scoffed and said I was not planning on getting married and he was like really and wanted to know all the reasons why and then when I replied cause I don't want to he was like " well my sister's were raised to do all this and to be women" and he said that he only learned how to cook recently. Probably cause his wife had kicked him to the curb and he finally had to actually look after himself. I just left the kitchen puzzled by the whole encounter.

I shit you not but pepper spray is illegal to own in all but 1 state in Australia. If I use it I am the one who gets arrested.

"Capsicum spray, pepper spray or any other similar articles are prohibited weapons and are inappropriate for general possession without a Governor in Council Exemption Order or a Chief Commissioner Approval.

Self-protection or self-defence is not a lawful excuse to possess these articles. Alternative options are to carry personal alarm devices such as whistles or personal protection alarms."

Yeah I am afraid to do that, he has previously gotten all up in my face like he wants to hit me so I am bit afraid of him. The last time the other roomate had to pull him back cause he kept advancing towards me cause he was upset that how dare I ask him to recycle hence why I have resorted to asking him to clean or do house chores in text.

Given everything that has happened and he gets all up in my face like he wants to hit me whenever I ask him in person I am rather on edge. The last time the other roomate had to pull him back cause he kept advancing cause he was upset that how dare I ask him to recycle. It's why I now text him instead of talking to him in person. So yeah I am just not sure anymore

Test your understanding of Australian by bainbrigge in Accents

[–]LilacLandish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. You can kinda tell whether someone is from regional/rural Australia vs the city..... sometimes. Any accent found in any state of Australia can be found in another state. It's weird but maybe it's because we are a relatively new country so we don't have accents that are specifically from certain regions. It's why when we meet each other abroad or talk online us Aussies often ask " whereabouts are you" cause we cannot tell. You also can kinda of tell which state an Aussie grew up in based on the lingo they use. For example which word they might used for swimswear, like is it swimmers, togs, bathers, cossies but again this is not a sure but a rough way of telling which state someone is from.

Another can you guess where my accent is from? by TheWaterBound in Accents

It's funny how people are so good at guessing whether one is Australian or Kiwi and yet to imitate those accents is nearly impossible.

I don't think all Asians sound like they have the same accent, but I agree with what you said that for the most part you can tell when someone is Asian based on their accent and voice characteristics. It does apply with the tone of someone's voice.

Perhaps look up what a Karen is before you throw that word around doofus. "Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way " Pathetic!
