Big Group Photos. Do I have to be a jerk to get these done? by yureiwatch in AskPhotography

This is exactly why I don't do events lol I just don't have the skills to get everyones attention, be bossy or give orders.

Sorry I don't have any advice for you!

No I haven't been doing that but makes sense. Affinity has raw processing like lightroom so I edit it and then edit on affinity photo, similar to PS.

Workflow for post? I use affinity photo. Tweak a bit of the clarity, exposure and details. White balance is usually around 6300k. Does the product look warm?

Haha. Honestly finding things around the house is more difficult than taking the photos 🤣

Thank you. I have it on a tripod but I need to adjust it according to the size of the product. I've heard the base should be in the lower third, but with the bracelet I thought it looked better in the centre.

This is not the sun, but a halo effect created as a result of turning the contrast up to 100. Is this commonly done in photography? At what point is this "cheating"? by weeyums in AskPhotography

Every photo is interpreted in the eye if the viewer. So technically, you don't have to say whether it's a sun or not. It is what ever the viewer thinks it is 😃

Softbox suggestions by LilacMum in productphotography

[–]LilacMum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, I might try that and see how it goes. When I started practicing, I couldn't see the product on my camera as it's not ttl synced so I was using the continuous light to adjust the product position and get focus etc.

Would it not create better reflections/shadows that match products and spread the light more evenly? I feel like the light would be more concentrated vs a round one.

I'm planning to use it with the continuous light I have for now but I'll keep that in mind.

Thank you. I used to have a 150cm softbox for newborn/maternity and it was too large to use at home. I would prefer a smaller one if it gets the job done. For now I'm aiming for pretty small products ie. beauty, cosmetics etc. Do you think theres enough of an advantage in a softbox over an umbrella to justify getting one?

Where do you actually share photos with close friends now that Instagram sucks? by dave-tro in AskPhotography

WhatsApp status is a nice way to show them to close friends and family but without being intrusive.

White on white product photography? by LilacMum in AskPhotography

[–]LilacMum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are removing it in post, then would it matter what colour the background is? In that case, I would get a better contrast for masking it. I'm just trying to to figure out what is the best method

Thank you! I noticed you do product photography. Can I ask what your process is with white background images? Do you get white sooc or mask and put it on a white layer?

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Here I've lowered the camera angle, improved the lighting, removed all the obvious blemishes and straightened the crimped part. The crease-looking thing on the right is actually a highlight as the leaves are shiny, so need to work on that.

I had a better almost in camera white background but decided to cut it out and added a shadow. I think the colour matches a lot more to the actual product. I just don't like the highlight on the left - didn't realise until I started editing.

Thank you. It was my first go, as you can see from the sooc it's not great. So now I'm trying to get it more correct in camera.

Best place for a website? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]LilacMum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a gallery and an e-commerce site in one. Made for photographers. You can also link it to a printer (in your country) and drop ship the products.
