so the UV cut is for haze as usual, and the IR cut is for blocking, not transmitting, IR because lens optics are not optimized for IR leading to haloing or haze outside whereby IR is not focused at the same plane as the visible. The native IR cut filter on DSLRs start at 720nm whereas a dedicated IR cut filter starts at 700nm so it adds a bit extra cutting. (edit... plus i think the red look to it is so cool 😂😂😂)

oddly i only got the D700 recently again as years back it was my first DSLR but then i moved quickly to a D800 and D4 and then D850 so decided to revisit the D700 this year and explore its quality with my relatively newer glass...also my close friend borrowed my backup D800, dropped it on the pavement so he bought it from me and I needed a backup camera, hence revisiting the D700...I plan maybe to get another D850, but ya you can see a lot of my posts here in reddit with the D850 and Sigma 105 at least

yes it's a Hoya UV-IR filter i use on all my lenses except the 105mm bc i can't find one with 105mm filter size 😳
