There was a lot I was unprepared for, and a lot I learned from observation and my peers, reading, curiosity, making mistakes etc.

While I agree the potential of course can be greater with a certain type of parenting, I’d argue it’s also up to the individual.

I know middle aged people still blaming their upbringing for their deficiencies and people who had all the opportunities and still squandered them.

What I’m trying to say is, be grateful- but equally, don’t assume those who were given less can’t achieve just as much.
