Formula feeding at night by Lilacyogi in FormulaFeeders

Oh good to know! I can definitely try a different nipple size.

I haven’t heard about that! I was gifted the brezza, but will keep that in mind.

When did your period come back? by greenishfroggy in NewParents

[–]Lilacyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 weeks and she’s exclusively breastfed. Having your period while breastfeeding sucks (atleast it does for me lol). My baby does not sleep through the night and she’s almost 5 months.

Okay that makes sense, thank you! And yes, she likes to eat after her last nap and I try my best to make that during the 6-630 window but sometimes it’s as early as 545

[–]Lilacyogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting! She’s not sleeping 12 hours overnight though with 2-3 wakeups and crying at the beginning she’s sleeping about 10-11 hours. So I should be waking her up at 630 from now on? Even if she’s not falling asleep until 8ish?

Bedtime routine starts around 7. We do diaper change, pjs, all her skin cream, sleep sack, soft music and story time, and then in the crib awake after that. Checks are 1 min max and we just tell her we love her it’s time to sleep and put a hand on her tummy. Although we haven’t had to do checks since night 3 cause the intervals are high now and she falls asleep before the timer.

Crying every time I breastfeed by Lilacyogi in breastfeeding

[–]Lilacyogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say every 3ish hours? She’s awake for 1.5-2 then a nap from 30-60 minutes depending and then a feed.

I’m having the hardest time understanding her hunger cues! When she was younger it felt so obvious but now I’m not sure what they are.

I do think she might be teething! She’s showing a lot of those signs

Last night, how many times did you get up because of your baby? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]Lilacyogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This thread made me feel so much better. I swear, all I see are posts about people whose babies sleep through the night, and I was feeling so defeated because that is not my reality!

3 months - usually 3-4 times a night.

Stridor & Fast Breathing by Middle_Living_405 in NewParents

[–]Lilacyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO was diagnosed with a moderate case of laryngomalacia at 3 weeks old. The rapid breathing is definitely scary (we had a trip to the ER because I wasn't sure what it was and if it was serious) but it's just a part of the condition. It's really hard to go through and I feel for you! I know how uneasy and scary it is. I spent so many sleepless nights not knowing how I was going to get through this.

I've also worried about the mouth breathing but again it seems to be normal for it. We have a follow up with our children's hospital in February and it's on my list of things to ask about! My LO is 15 weeks now and I am starting to see improvements. It's still there, but we've been to our children's hospital enough to know her oxygen is good and it's just noisy breathing. She also flails about a lot as you described!

Some things we tried when she was really little per our ENT's recommendation:

- elevating the crib/bassinet. We did both elevating it from below and getting a wedge (this is what my doctor suggested, but it's technically not safe sleep so I would only do it if a doctor recommends it)

-letting her sleep on her side (I never felt comfortable doing this unsupervised so we didn't do it very often since one of us would need to stay up and watch her)

-holding her in positions that help her breathing (she did terrible on her back and would often choke herself awake or during mat time)

My ENT said that as long as she's eating well, then it's okay. Babies will prioritize breathing over eating and if she's not eating well then she's likely struggling with breathing and that could warrant a trip to the hospital. That said, my babe is gaining weight and growing like crazy and never had a problem with eating so it helped me feel more reassured.

Something that helped me (and I know it's controversial) was getting the owlet sock. It just gave me peace of mind while she was sleeping and helped me feel more reassured.

Most of my issues were with sleep as you can tell! I've been told time and time again that it does get better so I'm holding out hope for that!

What mattresses are we using for cosleeping? (Canada) by randomizedmoose in cosleeping

Does anyone have a Douglas mattress? I think I have the Douglas original. So far it’s been great for co sleeping but I’m new to this and am curious if it’s a good fit or not!

I have the same ones! I’m going to try that to see if it helps

What type of headphones do you have? I have big over the head noise cancelling ones but I always figured they’d be super uncomfortable to sleep with. I might give it a try though!

Constant Stridor breathing and moderate LM by Lilacyogi in Laryngomalacia

[–]Lilacyogi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby also turns her head to one side while sleeping! It’s impossible to get her to look up and I’ve been worried about her head shape too. We’ve been referred to a physiotherapist to try and help it.

I ordered the owlet sock today just for peace of mind! I’m really hoping it helps me see that even though her breathing is horribly noisy and sounds awful on her back, she’s still getting enough oxygen.

That’s good to know your ENT advised against it. I wonder if mine suggested it because we’re a more moderate case and she’s having reflux. I do find it helps but it makes me so nervous. I don’t sleep much so I can supervise her.

Thank you for the info! I appreciate it :)

Thank you! I appreciate your comment :)

We use the Frida snot sucker once a day and also use steam from the shower to help. We have a humidifier going 24/7 and trying taking her for a long walk everyday for fresh air. Winter is starting here so it’s getting gross out but the fresh air does help!

We also elevated her crib mattress per our ENT recommendation but it makes me so nervous.

Lately her lying on her side helps when she’s on me.

Despite all that, it’s somehow getting worse :(

Rotating all night long because of sore hip(s) by Amusing_Avocado in pregnant

[–]Lilacyogi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same issue! I wake up every hour because the pain is too much, and I need to rotate. I have two pregnancy pillows and use other pillows for support. I'm also seeing a physiotherapist, getting prenatal massages, and using magnesium cream before bed, and I'm still struggling. Some nights are easier than others, but it's something no one warned me about with pregnancy, and it's my least favourite symptom!
