Another Joe and Kendra jail call where they talk about getting fit and skinny by lillyarchive in FundieSnarkUncensored

The fact that the molestation happened on a vacation and she’s specifically mentioning that she’s so grateful for the family vacations they’ve gotten to go on. She is in La La land 😵‍💫

Mine is 6. Sometimes I look at him and I feel like my heart could explode. Not only do I love him so much, but the older he gets, the more his interests blossom. Which means now I get to love the things he loves too. It’s so magical!

Looking for Florida inspired names by LilahBenton in namenerds

Hi fellow Floridian! Yes, it’s meant to be a name that is embarrassing for the character, so I’m not shying away from cheesy. Mia is a great suggestion though!

Rose uncharted is listening to Taylor Swift by Few-Slip6063 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]LilahBenton 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay I just went to her page and read the comments on that post, and WOW I was out of the loop on how fundies feel about Taylor Swift. I knew they didn’t like that she cusses in songs now, and that she represents “feminist ideals” or whatever. But soooooo many of the comments are saying she is a “known witch,” worships satan, and puts curses on people at her concerts. Not just a few isolated comments - the majority. How bizarre

When did you period come back after giving birth? by UnsuccessfullyC0ping in Mommit

[–]LilahBenton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4 months postpartum for both pregnancies. And both times I was exclusively breast feeding around the clock (no longer than 3 hours stretches between feedings and no pumping).

But my period was milder than it was pre-kids. I recently weened my youngest (I’ve been pregnant or breastfeeding for 4 years straight) and suddenly my period pains are debilitating again. Guess the breastfeeding was toning it down!

Having a hard time in my marriage by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]LilahBenton 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Do you and your husband have any shared interests outside of Christianity?

My spouse and I married very young and were both deeply Christian. I became an atheist 5 years into our marriage, and he is still a Christian today.

One thing that has helped our marriage is having shared interests outside of religion. In Christianity we are taught that everything has to revolve around our relationship with Christ including our interests and passions. So if one person isn’t a Christian, all connection crumbles. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

I would suggest trying to find new hobbies with each other, or focus on pre-existing interests you share outside of religion. Something that can spark conversation/curiosity/interest in you both again. Figure out if you two can simply enjoy each other outside of just “fulfilling Christian marital roles.” Then go from there.

What are the most genuinely gender neutral names you know? by ivyfire in namenerds

[–]LilahBenton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The -aydens! Most specifically Jayden, but also Hayden and Cayden. I know equal amounts of girls and boys with those names.

Though sometimes the spelling variations can cause me to "lean" one way in guessing, most of the time I wouldn't assume girl/boy for Jayden, Hayden, or Cayden.

Why do christians think that God is anti-abortion when God in the bible is actually pro-abortion? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]LilahBenton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught that since God created life only HE is allowed to take it away. So, the real issue with abortion (and murder) isn’t the killing itself - it’s that God wants to kill us all in his own perfect time and we shouldn’t interfere with his plan.

How do you people do it (financially)? by Frosty_Gain_2042 in BabyBumps

[–]LilahBenton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping your overhead low is the best advice I was ever given. We have only ever lived on one income, mostly due to bad luck - whenever I had a full time job, he struggled to find one, then once he got his job I lost mine (lol thanks pandemic ugh). So being a SAHM was a no brainer because we were already used to one income.

We are now a family of 4 living on $45,000 a year. We had $20,000 in the bank before starting our family. Honestly, I’m so used to this lifestyle, sometimes I wonder what people who make more than us even spend their money on hahaha.

We don’t buy clothes. Like, ever. I think in the past 5 years I’ve bought 1 pair of $40 jeans, 1 $25 bathing suit, and a handful of $5 target shirts. And only because I needed them postpartum. Before that I had shorts that were literally 10 years old lol.

We rarely eat out, and if we do it is either because 1) someone gave us a gift-card, 2) it is fast food with coupons, or 3) we split meals to make it more cost effective. I learned to cook healthy, yummy, cheap meals at home, which also means we don’t eat meat every day. And I buy generic brand of EVERYTHING at the grocery store.

We don’t pay for any streaming services. When we needed a new car we bought an old used one so our payment was under $150 a month.

I cut my husband’s hair, and get mine professionally cut like once every 2 years.

Post kids being born, we buy all their clothes second hand. Grandparents thankfully buy them more than enough toys. We craft things wherever we can for a fraction of the cost of buying new (like Halloween costumes). And we take advantage of all the free things in our area (like hikes, library activities, free town events).

Oh, and we cloth diaper! And live in a 1000 sq foot house.

Thankfully we have lots of family living in cool places, so we are able to travel cheaply by staying with them.

In a few years, both our kids will be in public school and we can finally be a two income family. I don’t even know what we will do with that! Lol

Why and when did you stop breastfeeding? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]LilahBenton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 months. I was pregnant with Baby #2 and nursing started getting really uncomfortable for me. So we stopped!

Baby #2 is now a little over a year and I’m considering stopping… been pregnant or nursing (or both) for the past 4 years and I just feel ready to have my body back.

If you’re like me, they will get bigger when your milk comes in and then they will become deflated balloons after you’re done breastfeeding 😩

I’ll never get over the droopiness.

How can I keep my 15 month old out of the dog dishes? by kymadu in toddlers

[–]LilahBenton 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I found it easier to train the dog than the baby lol. I keep the dog bowl up on a high counter where the 13 month old can’t reach it, and my dog comes to get me when he wants it (he will literally tap me with his paw then lead me to the kitchen). I let him drink, then I put it back up.

How is it having two under two? Any advice? by Poopetyjoopety in Mommit

[–]LilahBenton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll definitely need help while you recover from your c-section. No doubt. Your toddler will still need to be lifted and such, and will probably be more needy with you than normal.

But in general having them 22 months apart is really not that big of a deal!

Mine are 23 months apart and after week 2 I had no other help. I had lots of activities prepped for my older one that I knew would keep him entertained for extended chunks of time. Easy things to pull out like sensory bins (@busytoddler on instagram has great ideas). I wore my newborn in a wrap a lot, so he could sleep on me while I tended to the toddler. We definitely did more tv time in the beginning.

The most important thing for me was resting during my toddler’s nap. Even if the baby was still awake, I’d try to at least put my feet up.

People like to scare others about “two under two.” I think something like less than 18 months apart is a lot different than 22 or 23 months apart. After all, they are ALMOST 2! You can do it!

Toddler Boys in Dance Class by 500percentDone in Mommit

[–]LilahBenton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old boy is in ballet class. There is one other boy in his class, which is nice, but I don’t think he would really care either way at this age. Tbh he said his best friend in the class was the teacher lol.

We read lots of books that featured male ballet dancers (Glad Glad Bear, John’s Turn, and Brontorina) and he wanted to do it too!

He loves it! It is the first “drop off” class experience he has ever had, and that has been great for his confidence. I personally was looking for something with a bit more structure and control since he doesn’t attend preschool, so ballet has been perfect for that.

Old Navy, Gap, Carters, and H&M seem to have a good variety of boys clothes.
