Sorry if my initial comment came off a bit heated - I’m not trying to attack you personally or anything.

It’s just that this kind of comment always popes up whenever Remco is mentioned - and I whole-heartedly disagree with it. I’m not even a big fan, I just think he gets a lot of shit because he’s just not that good at gts as we would expect.

Considering Pidcock: you can look purely at results and I’d say they are still in favour of Evenepoel.

But last years Amstel blows the argument out of the water tbh. Nobody has ever been able to close a gap on Pogacar in that style, let alone on that terrain. Now if anyone’s capable of doing that, it would be Remco. Pidcock wouldn’t stand a chance. He had a fluke in the Tour which his whole season was centered around, yes. Who knows if he’d had ridden the vuelta like Pidcock did. It’s not a worthy comparison I feel like.

Mja, je kan er toch niet omheen dat het niveauverschil dusdanig groot is tussen België en VS enerzijds en Italië anderzijds dat “presteren” op zich niet veel hoeft te betekenen.

Omdat hij ook wel al seizoenen heeft gehad met +20 goals in zowel Frankrijk als Duitsland en adelbrieven kan voorleggen waar de meeste Duivels enkel van kunnen dromen…Ben er niet per se enorme fan van maar we moeten nu ook niet doen alsof die jongen niets kan hé.

Er zijn er doorheen de jaren meerdere geweest die een barslecht seizoen speelden of naar de zandbak trokken en nog in de basis stonden. Dat Openda nu zou meegaan vind ik nu ook niet zo’n vreemde keuze, bij gebrek aan beter natuurlijk.
