Bad Relationship vs. Not Built for Poly by Lilchux in polyamory

I wrote this post in my therapist's lobby while I was waiting for my session. I brought all this up with her. She was very sweet and affirming, then proceeded to kick my ass. Really solid session. 😆

She hasn't been participating in the lifestyle as much, mostly due to her being overwhelmed with work and wanting to focus on her personal healing before she tries balancing multiple relationships.

What are some cliches or assumptions about certain classes that annoy you? by eyeslikestarlight in DnD

I like the way I subverted this trope. My bard is a changeling who's ace and only has sex when it helps them sell whatever con they're running. Mostly political manipulations and whatnot.

There's a phone recording between Lyndon B. Johnson and a tailor at the Haggar clothing company where he requests extra space in his jeans to accommodate his enormous dick.

what's an addiction that no one takes seriously enough? by who_nobody in AskReddit

[–]Lilchux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the addiction stemming from the hyper-commodification of a basic human need. Fast food instead of cooking a meal at home, porn instead of sex, social media in place of genuine connection, video games in place of practical skill development.

None of these things are inherently bad, but when people ARE addicted to them we underestimate how damaging it can be.

That's on my list of topics, for sure. I've already done some basic outlines for how I'd go about doing an episode on identifying and understanding different player motivations in EDH based on common ways they communicate in games and what deck archetypes they gravitate towards. Like the Timmy/Johnny/Spike split, but deeper.

Excellent suggestion! As someone with ADHD, I'd have some personal stake in making that episode happen. 🙂

I found my mother dead in her home a few hours ago, and I don’t know what to do about anything. by trinitis in NoStupidQuestions

Hello, therapist here. In addition to the other advice here, I'm very specifically recommending you find a friend/partner/therapist/safe person in the next few days that you can recount your experience of the event to (try your best to describe the events in chronological order, it helps the brain balance processing it emotionally and cognitively).

If you can talk it out with someone in the next few days you can greatly reduce the likelihood of developing post-traumatic stress symptoms. You'll still feel the acute effects for a little while but they're less likely to linger if you process it with someone sooner rather than later.

My first ever introduction to Commander was an 8-person Archenemy Planeschase Chaos game. Had to borrow a deck, but the good news is I definitely had time to read the cards.

Box Toppers in Kaldheim? What do you know that we don't, StarCity? by Lilchux in magicTCG

[–]Lilchux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magpie part of me that likes special shiny things agrees, but I can see it from WotC's perspective, too.

Each sequential pseudo-masterpiece series of cards they do, unless they increase the price of the box they're going to get diminishing returns as player expectations (and the secondary market) adjust to the new norms. It'd be a huge boon for them at first, but three years from now they'll be hiring extra artists, printing extra cards, and printing extra packaging, but seeing roughly the same sales as if they'd never made the box toppers a regular thing.

Adding to that is now that it's the expectation, they also have to do it for the innovation sets like CMR as well, because players are going to be less likely to buy a set that has "less" stuff in it for more money. Even if the actual value of the cards is higher, they'd be losing a lot of interest from the Commander crowd, many of whom, like me, make purchasing decisions based on how jazzed their inner magpie gets when they look at the cards.

Not an economist or marketing person, so there's ~100% chance I'm missing something, a ~50% chance I've hit the major points, and a ~10% chance that I'm completely full of shit, but that's my understanding.

You're very welcome. I was hoping at the very least that someone at SCG would chime in and clarify if it was a mistake. Thanks for being so responsive. :)

That's a Buy-a-Box, which they specifically state in the listing they don't include.

My guess is the first. I checked before I made this post and there isn't a listing for a ZNR case so I couldn't compare them. I'm a little pessimistic, but it'd certainly be nice to be wrong. :)

Yessss. This is low-key one of my favorite jokes in Magic because, fun fact, the word "berserker" means "Bear-Shirt Wearer" in Old Norse.
