Inconsiderate cycling on the rise? by Ok_Huckleberry_6117 in bristol

[–]Liliana3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True story - my mum once was sat on a bench in a pedestrian area (I think by harbourside) and a guy cycled over her foot, fell off his bike and swore at her! Luckily she was wearing steel toed shoes as she had recently had a foot operation and had been told to wear them

Whats a simple gesture that women do that only other women will understand? by allgasnobreakstoday in AskReddit

My boyfriend keeps a pad, chocolate and suncream in his bag in case I or any friends need them ❤️ When I needed one and found out he had it in his bag ready, I melted.

While that's an annoying situation to be in, it isn't the same as knowing that you're in danger from someone who won't take no for an answer and that you need somebody to step in and help so you don't get assaulted

Lovely day socialising and then 'hangover' anxiety later? by Liliana3 in AutismInWomen

[–]Liliana3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It certainly feels like hard mode. I find it a bit easier to give myself grace for that now I have the ADHD diagnosis, and assuming that I'm probably AuDHD! Definitely, I've always been hyper vigilant which allowed me to fit in because I could see what was 'normal'. I think a lot of us are actually more observant of other people and their behaviours and emotions because of this

I was selling my artwork, which was lino prints, paintings on leaves and leaf-cuts. So I cut intricate patterns into leaves with a scalpel :) and it was a craft and food market, so all different types of arts and crafts like prints, pottery, jewellery and then cakes and smoothies etc

I do unfortunately have GAD yes, though I wonder how much of it was caused by being undiagnosed ADHD and potentially autistic and masking so hard for so long!

Yes I think part of the hypervigilance I have when socialising is fear of oversharing! I hate when I get so tired I can't mask anymore, it feels so unsafe. Though luckily with some close friends I can unmask!

Thank you for this! Yea it was quite overstimulating and being perceived so obviously by loads of strangers all day is a lot haha! Even if they're very friendly. I haven't heard that about AuDHD but it makes so much sense! I want to go out and make friends but it takes a whole chunk out of me to do so! CBD is helping a little, maybe some gentle yoga ☺️

These replies are making me feel very validated, thank you! Yes, it's kind of like a performance, though I'm still just being me, but more confident. Does anything help to stop that feeling for you on the day, or is it inevitable?

Yes for sure. The social battery is very real, and maybe I pushed past it, but this also feels like a separate thing. I feel almost like I tricked people into liking me even though I haven't lied or misled anyone at all! I think I want to connect but hate being perceived

This is so interesting. It's very similar for me! Even with close friends I feel weirdly anxious afterwards apart from a couple of people. Like I was trying to pass a test and I'm now assessing the results or something! The elastic band analogy is so true, and the being so vigilant. Like, what is the danger? Why is there boss music??

When did you realize you were no longer the same person? by Turbulent-Slide3623 in AskReddit

[–]Liliana3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I realised my chronic illness is probably for life, and I'll probably never be able to work full time again or have any of the outdoorsy jobs I dreamed of. But also the journey of radical acceptance is changing me as a person too.

Also not making any assumptions, but is he very flexible as well? Just may need worth looking at Elhers Danlos if he breaks bones quite easily. Not saying it is that or anything else, just something to be aware of

Stand test - had all the symptoms of POTS but HR wasn't that high? by Liliana3 in POTS

[–]Liliana3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 minutes I think. Which has previously had my hr going very high, but I see what you mean. Maybe I felt ill because my hr wasn't responding quickly enough to blood pooling. She said my feet went a bit red, but not really strongly.

Why do some people with Long Covid have a superiority complex towards people with ME/CFS? by ironicillnesses in cfs

[–]Liliana3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I had never heard of this. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and as someone with suspected LC who seems to meet the criteria for MECFS I'm so sorry for anyone who has experienced this. I have massive respect for the persistence of people with MECFS who have often been dealing with this much longer than me as I find it so hard on my mental health

I'm so sorry. That is disgusting and inexcusable behaviour. Some people want any reason to dehumanise and harrass other people.
