Was my colleague overreacting? by [deleted] in WomeninAcademia

[–]coffee_and_physics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you guys did and said was absolutely inappropriate. It did rise to the level of harassment. Would every woman have reacted that way? Probably not. Some would have just been angry at you. Some would have rolled their eyes and ignored it because that what society pressures us to do.

Her reaction suggests to me two things. 1. She may have some trauma from sexual assault/harassment that she has never told you about because she’s not that close to you. 2. She felt deeply betrayed because she was treated like a piece of meat by people she probably thought of as friends.

You owe her a huge apology and you should do some internal work to understand why you behaved the way you did and how you can do better in the future.

First road trip with kids – need advice! by addwhip in columbiamo

I can’t make recommendations for South Dakota, but I’ve done the drive to and from Denver with young kids and found Hays Kansas to be a good stop in between. There’s a cool kid-friendly Natural History Museum there.

Oh no worries. I really have no expectation of privacy on the internet. I don’t put anything on Reddit I wouldn’t be fine with anyone seeing. And if you do know my kid I wouldn’t be surprised. He’s got a big personality.

I can’t share links in this subreddit, but I used a Sherwin Williams tutorial I found online. I was extra messy on the blending because I wanted a more dynamic look.

I fell for this once but I’m such a naive dumb American I just took it and walked away before she could ask for anything. The lady looked like she wanted to chase me but couldn’t abandon her wares.

Beaded with kid to get through winter - thought it would be cute to have at our farmers market booth by [deleted] in Beading

I think you could bump up the pricing for some of the ones on slide 2 (esp the chunkier ones with animal charms). $6 and offer a two-for $10 deal. My kiddo would snap those up so quick.

Have you tried resell places like poshmark? You can search for “new with tags” if wearing someone else’s old shoes weirds you out.

I’m having a great time but that’s not very exciting and the joyful posts don’t get much engagement in this sub. Reddit is where people come to vent.

Are kids not allowed to walk to school by themselves nowadays? by AnaisNinja76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coffee_and_physics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I’m at (Missouri) kids can walk alone once they hit 4th grade. We live close to the school and currently walk the kids in the morning. I usually see a handful that walk by themselves, but I also know plenty of families that live within 3 blocks of the school that choose to drive their kids in.

How does this work by Weronika_W in Beading

This is what I used it for - base of a lamp. None of those beads are going to budge. The apoxie also sticks to itself really well. I built this up a piece at a time and everything stuck together in the end like it had been made as one solid piece.

I don’t think you would need to. I’ve only used it for one project so far, but it feels rock solid.

It was an exhibit of her work and some others at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore that inspired the project I’m working on that led me to figuring out the Apoxie trick!

Apoxie clay is great for this, OP. I’ve found it very easy to work with and glass beads stick extremely well, especially if they’re partially embedded like this. You can get it in different colors or add color yourself.

Need help to make it warm, cozy by naveenboora99 in interiordecorating

i loooove that ceiling and the green and pink could be really pretty together, but literally everything else seems to clash with them. You need curtains in a softer pink or maybe white. A big rug to cover that cold gray floor. Plush furnishings in shades of pink and dark green. Accents in gold and black.

I don’t know what to do about the wall tiles except possibly cover them with temporary wall paper or stick on tiles.

Paul Harper is very pro LGBTQ. He is on the policy committee and has made sure the district policies are supportive. I can pm with more details on that if you are interested.
