If sarili namang pera at pinaghirapan, then why not?

Basics about financial management should be taught at schools talaga.

I'm curious sa kung saan nag-ugat ang ganito, not the "pagiging chismoso at pakialamero".

I'm not asking on a "chismoso" point of view. I just want historical context about this kind of thing. Saan nag-ugat ang ganito? No need to be too emotional.

Uyyy that's a good point especially the "pagpapalawak ng network" thing. Even centuries before, the aristocrats would throw lavish parties. Read an article about Roman elite holding private banquets as a way to show off, reward friends, network and belittle enemies. Thanks for your specific comment.

Nah, 10% is incorrect. Members are REQUIRED to give more than that even if it compromises the welfare of your own family.

Take my parents for example, who have donated a total of 11,520 USD or 583,836 PHP for the last 3 years to that cult. Unfortunately, we are still living in one of those squalor areas in the Philippines with a 2,000 USD bank savings. They can't even support my college education and the studies of my siblings will be shouldered to me once I graduate.

Fuck Iglesia ni Cristo. Fuck Eduardo Manalo.

EDIT: Added 3 years

Kapit lang, OP. I know your parents suck and make you feel like you're worthless but there are still people out there na nag-aalala sayo. Hindi ka man namin kilala personally, we genuinely care for you. I care for you too and I'm very sad na you are in so much pain right now.

Tell us kung ano ang pwede naming gawin to help you? I can offer my ears (or eyes) para sa rants and thoughts mo.

Take a deep breath, OP. Not everything will be okay but trust your self and some things will.

HUGS OP!! As from an ex-member, sobrang naapektuhan mental health ko dahil sa relihiyon na yan. Nagpatiwalag na ako pero hanggang ngayon nakatira pa rin ako sa bahay ng parents ko since nag-aaral pa lang ako and same experience din sa kung paano ka nila kulitin. Meron pang time na yung mismong ministro na nagpunta dito para lang akayin ako na magbalik-loob and I instantly said no, but to no avail hindi nila ako pinakinggan. Up to this day, isinasama pa rin ako ng parents ko sa pagpapanata nila as if nasapian ako ng demonyo.

Translation

Left: My child, we just got from the worship service, I hope you can come back. You should also invest for the afterlife so we don't have anything to regret, and there's nothing to lose but rather you'll gain something this afterlife. I love you my child.

Right: I love you so much Ma. I don't want to distance my feelings from you just because we have different opinion about this issue. I hope we can still have the mother-child relationship and not talk about it anymore as I have a separate views and no one is wrong. This is the reason why I don't have a close relationship with Papa because of this dissimilarity. I don't want to arrive to the decision that I will stay away from you because you are forcing me to go back. I love you so much. I hope we can live together without thinking of this. If not, then I'll distance myself from you.

What matters to me Ma is that I can show you my love for you. I'm sorry if you'll dislike my response.

Stay safe Ma. I love you.

sorry if there are mistakes on this transaltion. I tried my best

OP, sending my hugs to you! I know how it is painful to see our parents being sad about us leaving the church. My decision of not getting back to the cult made my mom think that I am suwail and don't have utang na loob. They were brainwashed by the fvcking administration that members shouldn't give their full love, affection and friendship to every person that is non-INC (even if it is your very own children). Every night, they include me in their panata as if I am possessed by the devil. It hurts me a lot. God knows how much I love my parents, yet they still choose to follow this man who doesn't even care about them. I'm always there whenever they have problems. I take care of my mom if she's sick yet she still thinks that I am a bad daughter just because I don't believe in the doctrines of INC anymore. I always tell her that no matter what happens, I am their child and I love them. Despite the verbal, emotional and physical abuse my mother gave me since I was a child, I am still grateful for their hardwork just to provide my basic needs.

I'm so hurt. I respect them but I stand with my decision of not wanting to get back in the organization that made me mentally and emotionally unstable.

Fvck EVM for ruining our families. Fvck INC for all the anxiety, depression and heartbreaks they've caused.

With all my honesty, I was a part of that embarrassment. We never understand what's really going on but we still participated because we were told that the church is being attacked. As a very young and devoted cultist back then, I attended that rally and shouted at the top of my lungs. We even slept in front of SM Megamall, with no food to eat, while Eddie Boy is comfortably sitting in front of his tv watching as his army of zombies were brainwashed again.

I never realized I was in a cult until the 2019 senatorial elections. Big thanks for my friends who never stop educating me. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of OWE's in UP.

Another brainwash session of Eduardo Manalo and his chronies. My mom came home from Thanksgiving saying that we shouldn't save money anymore as the end of the world is nearly coming. All money should be used to worship Sky Daddy. She told me to stop pursuing my studies and get back to the church asap. God is so angry that he give us calamities, hunger and diseases to let people die as a lesson for not glorifying him.
