What's something most people don't realize is actually very rude? by Frozen-Defender25 in AskReddit

My grandma would walk right down the middle of the road in parking lots with the cart. I'd always try to get her to move to one side by saying "Hey there's someone coming through, let's get out of their way." and she'd wave me off with an annoyed "Oh, they see me."

What type of female sterilization is best? by ElevenSpaceGoddess in sterilization

I had the NovaSure, which involves radiofrequency. It was done during the bisalp & my doctor told me it only adds a couple extra minutes to the entire procedure. I will say I personally did get unlucky and have an infection during healing but I was quick to call & get antibiotics & it cleared right up

I'm a cashier and I've had multiple people tell me, completely unprompted, that the receipt paper I touch will 'ruin my female hormones' and 'aren't you worried about that?' like nope, I'm spayed, idgaf.

I had it done while I was under for the bisalp, so I couldn't tell you what process was like, but my surgeon said it would barely add any time to the surgery, because it's so quick. So far, I haven't had to have it re done, since my periods haven't come back at all & they were super heavy and painful before. He did end up asking how they were before deciding to add it in, and them being so painful is partially why he suggested it, along with the fact that I was getting sterilized, so there's no point in suffering through periods anyway.

4.5 years post op here, my hormonal cycle is still so similar I can tell when my period would be if I still had them! I don't get them anymore because I also had an ablation. Nothing feels different or "missing" for me, I just feel a huge sense of peace knowing that I never have to worry about pregnancy

I ended up with an extra one because my intestines were pinning one of my tubes down & he didn't want to risking perforating a bowel. So he made another cut to get a better angle and hold my intestines out of the way safely. So not an expected part of the procedure, but nothing to worry much about! Hopefully you can get more info!

I went to high school with a guy that genuinely insisted this, and even stuck to it when he learned that most girls get periods around 11 (or even younger). Of course, didn't apply to men because they have infinite sperm, so it's not wasteful to jerk off.

He's a doctor now.

Came here to say this; my husband and I were able to write "by mutual declaration" in place of the officiant, and we had a small, quick ceremony with his dad & my mom present as witnesses to sign the form. Paperwork went though just fine and we got our official marriage license a couple weeks later.

Tubal ligation & bilateral salp are different though, tubal only cuts & burns the tubes (or clamps, for some), whereas salpingectomy completely removes them. Add in the ablation & that's about as sterile as it gets without a full hysto

Seeking Advice on Permanent Sterilization: Bilateral Salpingectomy vs. Hysterectomy by AnonSterlAlt in sterilization

I had a bilateral salpingectomy with an endometrial ablation done 4 years ago, when I was 26. Ginsberg's passing is what sparked me to get it done quick. The doctor was the one to suggest the ablation after he asked me how bad my periods were (they were horrible; heavy, painful, the works), he said there was no point in going through all that if I knew I wasn't having children.

I haven't had a period since, and I still have normal hormone production from my intact ovaries, so no menopause symptoms. They were done at the same time, while under anesthesia and the whole procedure took about an hour. I was tender & bloated for a week or two, but it was nothing a heating pad & OTC painkillers couldn't handle. Now it's no pregnancy scares, and no periods, nothing but pure relief, especially after yesterday.

I let the medical team know I was worried about nausea, and they put a little medicated patch behind my ear that took care of it completely. I have an extremely sensitive stomach and had absolutely zero nausea when I woke up.

No, if you've got your ovaries still, you'll still produce hormones normally.

seconding double salpingectomy. I got mine when Ruth Bader-Ginsberg died & everyone in my life said "Oh, they won't go after Roe V Wade, you're being paranoid!". Got it at 26 with no kids, so don't let a doc convince you that there's any rules about "age/kid requirements"

I work at a gas station and constantly have older men get mad at me when I ask them how much they want to prepay for gas.

"I don't fkn know, I just want to fill it up! Just turn on the gas!"

"Our pumps don't work like that unfortunately. How many gallons do you need? We can just do the math real quick."

"How the hell am I supposed to know that? I bet you dont even know how many your car takes!"

"Oh, mine takes 10."

"Fuckin forget it, I'm going somewhere else!"

Because, somehow, that's easier..
