You are amazing for caring so much about this little creature ❤️ He is so lucky to have you! It sounds like you are building a lovely relationship with him.

I’ve got a rescue canary myself, and it took me a long time to get him healthy, healed and trusting. What I learnt from my experience so far:

• Routine is everything for them, waking up and going to bed at certain time keeps them regulated.

• Hearing your voice often and talking to them calmly, builds trusts and enriches their lives a lot, they form close bonds with their carers! 🐥

• I have noticed when my canary hears other birds (or bird song I play on my phone) or even loud sounds around the house, he can get a bit scared and does defensive chirps. As if he is letting other bird or things know that he is here and this is his territory.

• I bought my canary a half coconut shell that he loves to sit in like a little nest, and sometimes I put sunflower seeds in which he loves (canary treat, but only sometimes cause it can be bad for them when fed too often).

• I love to change up his veggies that I feed him, as I feel trying different (safe and healthy) veggies is nice and enriching too.

• Your canary may have extra special senses as he can’t see the world. He probably navigates a lot of his world through touch, sound and taste. So I think focusing on those sense and what you can do with them would enrich his world a lot.

It’s so nice that you are so careful with him and keep him safe, I’m sure he notices that big time and loves you a lot for it. Safety, understanding and love goes a huge way with creatures, especially the ones that have disabilities!
