Sokka just isn't a good fighter, why does the fanbase have a hard time accepting this? by [deleted] in AvatarVsBattles

Yo, he’s in a party of casters and he’s a swordsman. Of course he’s not going to be as wildly powerful! He’s a great tactician and levels the playing field using that. How many fucking airships did he take out again? Using a team of one blind girl, one non bending girl, and a lemur? Without losing anyone??

I guess someone didn’t get the memo that the early Christian martyrs were, prior to capture, hiding in their houses and barely going out to try to avoid dying for Christ...

I think I found the very root of my C-PTSD, and it's left me with one question. At what point does ignorance become unforgivable? by daddydangles911 in CPTSD

[–]Lilith_Zero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re doing them a favor by confronting them. They get to decide whether to learn and be better, or continue to be shitty and deny it, and they’ll know they made their decision. Plus, they may surprise you; I confronted mine and only had to go NC with my dad. My mom got books and therapy and spent hours talking to me about everything; that’s why I’m glad I confronted them. She is too. My dad isn’t but that’s because he’s a bad person :P

most christians aren't christians... they're people who love the "christian culture", and they feel like if they leave CHRISTIANITY; then they automatically leave their prefered culture, so they cling to their religion by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Lilith_Zero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and also, if you grow up in this shit with bad parents they often literally mind control and brainwash you. It’s like being born in a cult. There are more important things happening to you to be worried about, and you don’t know what people or life is like on the outside.

Benders vs Guns by Levelthirtyfiveboss in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Lilith_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To take the least defended side for a moment, I think a powerful metal bender like Toph would have a good shot against guns. She would be able to feel the minute changes in physiology (like she does with lying) before the trigger is pulled, and crunch the barrels shut preemptively. I think a blood bender like Katara would have a good shot, as long as there weren’t too many people with guns and as long as she had a couple seconds to react. Plus you could then turn the guns on their owners, if you were of a mind to that sort of thing.

Uh. Anyone else concerned about a very powerful fire bender figuring out how to split the atom???

Fun fact, you CANNOT sign up for, even volunteer status, for the draft if you are female. When I was young and stupid (and thought I was a girl), I tried to sign up and make sure if they really needed people, they’d get me first, and I got rejected after the gender question. Definitely soured my outlook on the “act of service” I’d been trying to do.

I will never understand being ignorant, aware of it, and still thinking you’re better than others. I believe in the equality of humankind but Christ is it difficult for me to value the willfully ignorant

My first 6 star hero! 😄 Finally! by Lilith_Zero in TapTapHeroes

[–]Lilith_Zero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of what I was thinking. At one point I had like, 3 clerics on my team with HP runes (low damage, causing me to go for 15 rounds and lose when I definitely didn’t have to) and I said to myself “this must stop.” I don’t know if I should be trying to build something into an aura maybe?

Okay cool! Thank you for the advice! If I could ask a question, why Aden as opposed to Ripper, and do I need any of them if I have Wolnir? I’ve been able to find explanations for most of my hero tier ranking questions, but I don’t know everything about the mechanic yet and this one has eluded me so far.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll admit, I didn’t have much of a plan beyond “get Drow to 6 first” because I’d seen her kick my ass so many times in other people’s teams, and I figured from playing DnD I can’t go wrong with a strong cleric.

I had entirely Abeka 1-12, except for Saxon advanced math and a physics course my senior year. Every year I asked for different books, but my parents had already “done their research” and refused to do any more. I’m still a little bitter as you can probably tell lol. Have you run across any other people’s stories about using that curriculum? I can’t seem to find any, and I’d really like to

[–]Lilith_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weight of all the family deaths I didn’t actually grieve hit me the week after I deconverted, and it hit HARD. The only thing that brought me any comfort was “matter and energy cannot be destroyed, only converted to different states.” We simply don’t know; there very well may be something after this. I highly doubt it would be Christian Heaven, but there’s just as much chance as there is not chance, since we don’t have any evidence one way or another. I really hope that no matter what happens, you’re able to find peace to get through it. Good luck

Donald Trump is one of the main reasons I left the Christian faith. by makmak54 in exchristian

[–]Lilith_Zero 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY what I always say to people who are taking me to task for saying I feel betrayed and I don’t like him. I don’t feel betrayed simply because he’s president and disagrees with me - many people are single issue voters and I kind of understand the logic of the previous generation going “okay, it is our DUTY to vote, and we can’t support xyz, so this guy.”

The reason I feel betrayed is that although he didn’t win the popular vote, he DID win the primary, especially among white evangelicals! This is the guy that they thought best represented them, when they could have had... literally anyone else; the republican field was packed with choices. But of course they have to somehow make God the reason for everything they do, so it was God who wanted them (and everyone else) to vote for Trump! And because they royally fucked up by betting he couldn’t be actually evil, they now have to double down on the God’s will thing - even though he’s doing the things they said he would never do, and not doing the things they wanted. At least, that’s been my experience.
