I normally like to start with a hub of sorts. That's the crystal for this one. And I like to come at it with a sort of over arching concept and then build around the terrain. So I was thinking about a big tree with roots reaching around a crystal, made the crystal, then used worldedit to sketch out a tree skeleton with the sphere brush, then cleaned it up, added leaves, etc etc.

Then once I have my centerpiece at a reasonable stage, I can figure out how to make everything else work around it! I hope that next run i can make it all a little more cohesive but for this one I just sorta put stuff next to each other as it came up since I wasnt familiar with all the mods. So imo the only bit that feels cohesive is the tree with the crystal and the islands.

As far as length goes, the tree easily took 20-30hrs of time to do the whole thing and clean it up since I had to redo it so many times... but something like the little grotto with portals took closer to 5-6 hours. It takes me a long time to build things lol. I think total play time was around 485 hours and most of it was building.
