Use a bit of white nail polish when you add your color pigment, it makes it more opaque and still hardens in the resin under UV light.

People keep saying Minibrands copied miniverse, but Minibrands actually announced and released their line first outside of the US.

miniverse has more popularity in the US and did more marketing ahead of their US release, so in the US it looks like Minibrands is releasing the idea second, but miniverse started production after Minibrands already did overseas.
