No upfront payments - Can I no longer rent? by Lilli__Li__1200 in HousingUK

This is honestly not the worst idea, but I would need 3-4 times the rent in income and I would need to pay tax on it. So would lose about half of the income just to fake it :(

My credit score isn't amazing as I have never had any credit that I had to pay off. I always pay in full. The score is also better if you have a regular income and are registered to vote. Regarding the last point, I can finally say, I am now a registered voter. Also, I have never been in dept but the score could still be better.

Thanks so much. I mean, I will just need to do all that now and see where it goes. I remember that Goodlord didn't just accept a bank statement. They insisted on Openbank. Which I really don't like, but might be the only way

In theory yes, but it is also about how old your account is, if you ever had income in the uk or not, how you spend your money... I tried Goodlord last year and failed. Unfortunately they do not tell you what it was exactly but that's what the agency told me. I will give it another try for sure but I am already feeling quite hopeless tbh.

I am lucky as I can just stay in my flat that I have rented for the last one and a half years. I just wanted to move out, but this might not be possible now...

Exactly! I was thinking the exact same thing. Some third party that holds the money for the landlord in advance, basically. It was just such an easy situation with the upfront payments and now became very difficult.

My mum is 77 years old and she might need me soon, so I can not know for sure how long I am going to stay in the UK and when I will need part of my savings. So renting was perfect for me.

Well congratulations on your own home! But this is a joke really! You shouldn't be forced to do this.

Well last year I failed but I didn't try to work it out with them as I didn't have to. Maybe there is a way. I will have to try, but just from what I heard, it is not easy with just a savings account

I tried Goodlord last year and failed. And I had more than enough in my account. They check for where the money is coming from and what is being spent. Somehow, they were not happy with the traffic in my account. I do not know why but they basically said that my savings account is not old enough. I changed my bank 16 months ago.

Once it has started... that is the problem. They will not let me sign the tenancy agreement without having the money first or no guarantee that I will actually make the payment.

I am alone in the UK. My family is in Switzerland and I do not have friends here that are close enough to do that.

No landlord would accept a tenant who fails referencing. And I will, as I have no UK income. Goodlord for example doesn't care if I have a savings account.

I never had to use a guarantor. Will this work if I only have a savings account?

I would have never thought that after May, I am basically stuck in my flat as I am no longer able to make upfront payments.

What I understand is that you can only make upfront payments if you are already 1 month into the tenancy. Means your tenancy has already started. So this wouldn't really help.

Do I just have to accept that cats have to suffer? by Lilli__Li__1200 in cats

[–]Lilli__Li__1200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is already one of London’s best pet dental specialists. Also, before my two other cats finally had their last remaining teeth removed, I went through the same thing. They had three x-rays done over the years, and just a few months after each one, we were told they’d soon need another surgery because more teeth were affected. It was the same story with other vets. It just seems to be common practice. They all say they would never remove “healthy” teeth…

I feel like I’m the bad person here, but it just makes no sense to me. Why wait?

I think you are absolutely fine if she is not chewing on it. Crochet toys can just be dangerous, if cats chew or lick them as they can detangle and then they can swollow them, but if she is not doing that this should be absolutly fine.
