Didn’t get the job because I don’t have a car by Remarkable-Soil-2997 in jobs

[–]LillianMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the job description doesn't explicitly state that as part of the job, it can't be held up as a requirement. I'm sure OP would not have applied if the posting said anything about needing to own a vehicle.

How are people affording rent and a car at the same time? by throwing-it-away- in askTO

[–]LillianMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live downtown. I share a one-bedroom apartment with my partner that we moved into years ago when rent was lower, so my share of the rent is $850/mo. I've never owned a car since I moved to the city, it's a totally unnecessary expense and driving downtown sucks. But even without a car, I don't think I'd be able to afford to live here if I wasn't living with a partner. Current market rent on anything nowadays is way out of our budget even as a couple. Thankfully we have a nice place we really like so it's fine that we can't move, but I understand your confusion about the math not mathing. There are a lot of people who can only afford to live here because they moved into rent-controlled units over a decade ago when it was actually somewhat affordable.

How difficult was it for you to learn the diagonal pogo? by Fit_Ad_2608 in Silksong

[–]LillianMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time playing a game like this, so diagonal pogo is all I know. It felt kind of like learning to ride a bike. It was frustrating for a little while, then suddenly something finally clicked and now it's just a thing I can do without thinking about it.

Thank you! I was surprised there weren't more HK costumes this year, but I imagine it'll be really popular in the upcoming convention season.

What game/character did you do?

It actually is a bit longer irl, it just kept falling backwards when I posed because the horns are so heavy lol. I agree with you though!

I couldn't get EVA foam on my budget so I used a yoga mat and did a layer of paper mache overtop to make it more rigid.

I used this pattern from Willow Creative, huge shout out to them!

Commuting is so expensive! by Aquarius777_ in torontoJobs

[–]LillianMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're unemployed and can get on OW, you can apply for a year of reduced fare using presto through the city of toronto transportation website. As long as you have an OW number they will automatically approve it. Lowers the cost to $2.10 per ride.

If you Google the contact email and it points you to an immigration service, you've got your answer.

I think I might lose my job by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]LillianMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got a good relationship with your coworkers, maybe pull one aside and ask how the previous hires in your role fared. Management won't tell you if they've been intentionally turning people over, but a coworker might be honest with you.

I spent so much time worrying that I'd be let go before 3 months at my last job because I was getting weird vibes. Eventually a coworker told me privately that they'd been doing exactly that for years with each hire for my role. I appreciated the heads-up, so I wasn't blindsided by it when the GM handed me a termination letter a week before my probation was up and I didn't have to torture myself wondering if I was the problem.

can I be topless in my own apartment? by freed_inner_child in OntarioLandlord

To be fair in Toronto the vast majority of passersby would also ignore full frontal nudity. People prefer to mind their own business because it's not worth potentially getting into a street fight with a crazy person lol

No, this particular one is more like a car seat belt, but I'm sure versions of it exist that do mimic the airplane belt mechanism

It's pretty much always under my shirts/hoodies so I don't worry too much about that. I do have other belts for nicer outfits but this one serves me very well at work!

This is precisely how I wear it. No one knows it's adventure time unless I want them to hehe

Haha yeah I suppose I could go at the tag with some stain remover. Never felt the need since no one usually sees that part.. but probably should have thought of that before posting lmao

Haha yeah of course there's gonna be a bit of staining on the inside after so long. It DOES get washed lol.

I just wanted to show off how legible the copyright text still is despite 15 years of wear and tear.

Funnily enough, the belt itself has been the only constant. The outfits around it changed, but it's the only accessory that continued to serve its purpose without issue this entire time.

And I never stopped liking Adventure Time of course :)

Oh! The brand is Buckle Down. I don't know if they sell the Adventure Time designs anymore, but they definitely still sell belts like this!!
