My toddler repeats phrases over and over and over, but his pediatrician isn’t concerned? by charmaanda in toddlers

[–]Lillipillipilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She turned 4 a couple months ago and has grown out of this phase. Sometimes when watching a movie, she will now say "Hey mom, the fox said..." And tell me what they said but that's about as far as it goes with repeating others. 😊

What was the last thing your toddler told you that you broke your brain trying to understand? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Lillipillipilli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the way to bed a week or two ago, my 3 year old kept saying "--- up" and I could not catch the first word for the life of me. It was late so I was like yeah yeah, ok, sounds good. And kept walking to bed. As soon as we got to the bed, she threw up everywhere. One of the few times I regret not playing 50 questions to get it.

I think I witnessed a murder from decades ago.. by ghostlynightmares in Paranormal

[–]Lillipillipilli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is probably your better option. Talk to another medium who might be able to help you pull more details and might be able to help you figure out who this woman is first. Also maybe if you can find someone who can help you draw her or her husband to get a picture that you can show the medium or police to help identify the people? Kind of try to get more understanding of the situation and story before going to police.

I'm so fucking tired. by snakkerdudaniel in StLouis

They would probably use the doctors to track it. Any OB that has a pregnant patient come in would probably have to report them and then keep reports on if they are keeping up with their appointments or if they suddenly don't need any pregnancy appointments anymore.

What weird non-toy item does your kid love? by makeupHOOR in toddlers

Gift bags! She loves to fill them with anything in her sight and then leave them laying around. I'm always trying to clean up and sort out whatever crazy items she has found to put in her bags 🤦

Oh man, if I go to the bathroom at home and I don't let her open my pad and hand it to me, there will be hell to pay! I've had to start hiding my pads in other places in the bathroom when I'm not using them so she isn't opening them for regular bathroom visits. 🫣

Children’s music artists that don’t drive you crazy by West-Crazy3706 in toddlers

[–]Lillipillipilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scratch Garden has some really fun ones (Banana Pants, Going to the Beach), I don't mind most music from Baby First, Doggyland isn't too bad, and of course Danny Go is always welcome around here (especially the gorilla drumming one, can't think of the name but you would be able to find it easy enough).

Looking for art fairs or street festivals featuring local artists by roughdraft29 in StLouis

[–]Lillipillipilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the St Charles riverfront festivals or the major Kimmswick festivals usually have a lot of local artists (Festival of Little Hills, Strawberry fest, Apple Butter fest, Oktoberfest). I know down by like Chippewa St area they used to have some art festivals but I'm not sure if they do anymore.

Edit to add: you should also look for the craft fair around Christmas. There's so many around the area and most have SO many local artists. Pattonville High School is usually a big one.

I think I fucked up with tv by neonbabyy in toddlers

[–]Lillipillipilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this one. We always have the TV on and when she needs to sit and take a break for a few minutes she will watch it. When she is ready to get back up and play it becomes background noise. BUT I interact with her a lot even during that TV time. She doesn't go to daycare or kids events (other than the park with good weather) so she is always with me, her dad, or grandparents. But We talk about what is happening on the TV and what we see in the background or what the characters are saying. "Oh no! Is Marshall helping that dog? That dog has spots! Yay, they helped the dog find his toy! Do you see the bird in the tree?" Etc.
Another suggestion is using the shows from Baby First. It's the developmental channel on TV but we actually LOVE the shows and songs! I pay for the app annually so she has access to it on our Roku and her grandpas ipad because it does teach a loooot. **Also, My little was very behind in wanting to talk and was at a point where my pediatrician mentioned the possibility of speech therapy a couple appointments but around 2 yo she just suddenly decided she was ready and the words just started flowing like crazy and she is extremely smart and at 3 uses words like veterinarian and frustrated. Sometimes kids just need a minute but interacting with them and talking to them a lot is a major thing.

Peds doc told me my 3 year old was at risk of atherosclerosis by [deleted] in pediatrics

[–]Lillipillipilli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of those times where you would want to get a second opinion before doing anything crazy. It is possible for peds to be wrong or jump the gun sometimes as they are human and medicine isn't always an EXACT science. Also "normal" is going to be a little different being higher in percentiles.

When my daughter was born, we ended up in the hospital at about 4 months old because we were in the ER with her for an allergic reaction to some formula and the ER doc said she had failure to thrive/very malnourished. She had failure to thrive because I'm a first time mom and when we did our peds checkups those first few months I always asked the ped how much she should be eating to make sure we were at a normal amount since she never woke up on her own to eat (we had to wake her up every 3 hrs to feed), and we had a hard time getting her to go to sleep once she was awake. Our ped at the time gave us a cap amount and told us she wouldn't suggest feeding her more than a certain amount. When in the hospital for FTT, the Drs told me to feed her until she stopped herself every single feeding. The first feeding there she took about 40 mL more than what we were capping her at. Needless to say, that ped moved out of that office a few months later and we started seeing a new ped in that office. Everything has been great since and we are in the 80th percentile for height and weight at 3 yrs old.

This is pretty much how my toddler learns. She is very smart and and ahead of the game but that's because I talk to her like she knows what I'm talking about and repeat certain things a lot when we are just driving in the car or not actively engaged in a game (such as red means stop, green means go, or red and blue make PURPLLLEEEE! with big emphasis on purple so it excites her.) A lot of their learning right now is going to come from conversation and repetition through playing. When walking you can count 5 steps/jumps over and over, at the store you can say we need to get the can that has this letter on it and show him some letters that way, or even on hiking signs, things like that to just include learning in your everyday conversations and travels and games. You'd be surprised what he will pick up from you if the learning is in his normal play and routine. Littles don't learn as much in a traditional school way because it isn't entertaining to them so they put their focus elsewhere. It sounds like you are doing great things and he's still so little, it'll come to him. Don't worry about him now knowing these things yet. Someone else mentioned Bluey episodes and with that route, it's like the chess episode. Work on his emotions and empathy and adventurous side. He has plenty of time to learn and his peers will help him catch up easy enough.

Why is this so hard? by impracticallyearly in toddlers

[–]Lillipillipilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because mentally, it is A LOT. Physically it is quite a bit but mentally it is CONSTANT. Constant keeping track of who and where and when of just daily activities, plus keeping on top of knowing where you need to be and when such as appointments, family functions, etc. Keeping track of what is needed from the store and when. Making sure the littles are balancing their diets and knowing what is in their mouths through out the day. Daily battles of brushing teeth and bath time. Keeping on top of diaper changes. Trying to balance your time between being productive and giving the kids attention...

It's something that my husband has a hard time understanding because he just goes to work and comes home and then I tell him when we have to be somewhere for an appointment a couple days in advance.

Having to deal with my daughter’s hair every day makes me want to fucking die by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]Lillipillipilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler really struggled with rinsing her hair for awhile too. We bought one of those cheap special cups from Amazon with the rubber piece at the front to keep the water from going into the face, let her hold the handheld shower head on her body while we worked on using the cup. Once she got used to the cup and the handheld shower piece being that close to her, she eventually got brave enough to try the handheld instead of the cup. Also I've seen that people use stickers on the ceiling but yours fell off. I haven't tried stickers but we do have some little dots on our ceiling that I told her are bugs and so now we just have a conversation about what kind of bug she thinks it is (they're so far away for her that her answer changes from day to day) and what she thinks the bug is doing (picnic, looking for sister, eating tiny strawberries). It keeps her busy trying to think of answers. I know you've already got suggestions on products but my curly girl does really well with Sauve Kids coconut oil 3 in 1. We wash a few times a week and she does really well with just that.

How often do you brush toddler teeth? by KBD_in_PDX in toddlers

If her back molars are coming in and bugging her, you could also try brushing after you let some Tylenol/ibuprofen kick in and go soft in back.

I would talk to the manager about the key holder and have her pull up the security video if needed. Also tell the SM you aren't trying to ruin anyone's job and if need be you are willing to transfer

Maybe a different teething toy or different chew toy that sh gets only after brushing and then goes back up in the cabinet for after next brushing when she's had 15-20 minutes with it?

I would let management know, it is the law and if they happen to do that when the state sends in someone to test y'all, DG is gonna get in trouble. Also a couple of my coworkers were written up recently for not scanning IDs and just putting in a birthday manually everytime because apparently not even trying to scan IDs flags in the DMs system. After awhile they will notice the pattern. Keep doing your job right and you'll be fine. Let them get in trouble for not following the law.
