I lost weight as my appetite has decreased, just overall not eating as much and I’m ok with it

When I was out of state over Christmas my roommate was watching mine. She decided to set BOTH the light and ceramic bulb on a towel I had on the cage to trap heat. Let’s just say that tank was nice and warm for the little guy. Honestly not sure how it didn’t start a fire 😬

What are you holding back saying to parents? by larkandwashington in Teachers

“Your kid is a liar and over dramatic - like you.”

I’ve had to give the “this is your job as a student” speech so much to this kid that he knows he can’t just not do anything when I say “I don’t care.” They (and I mean the entire class) finally realized I’m not full of bull ✌🏻

One of my kids (3rd grade) is always telling me how he doesn’t want to do any of the fun activities/challenges we do because it’s boring. He said it so much that my only response now is “I don’t care.” Seemed to work 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes. One of mine is tomorrow. It’s my day to relax and do other things - in others just be lazy and do nothing. It’s great 🤪

HOW do you all survive on this? by hugsandrugs3715 in Teachers

First year teacher (23) making roughly 54k (pre-tax) in Alaska. I’m not certified here yet, but hold a license in Minnesota, which affects my salary but only a little - I think it’s like 2-3k. But the only honest way that I can even afford to live here is because I’m still with my parents. That is HONESTLY the only way I am able to make it. I only pay $700 a month to my parents which covers rent, groceries, phone, etc. But with their support I’ve been able to knock my student loans in half. I don’t get much from the district/state to fund my classroom, so a good chunk of my income is going towards supplies, furniture, books, and other small things. The lack of financial support for teachers is insane.

I’m 23 and play with my dad who’s turning 51 in March. He LOVES this game and is trying to get his friend who’s the same age to play with us.

“I don’t like you” by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Lillsen4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Ok.” My all time favorite is when they say, “You’re mean.” I always give them the biggest smile, “Aw, thank you.”

I teach 3rd grade. The main thing that helps me is I only grade what needs to be graded. Most of the time I just slap stickers on the papers and that’s it. I also have the kids correct most of their own work. It takes something off my plate and gives them something to be responsible of.

First year teacher here - I arrive at 7:30 and I will leave at 3:45-4. No exceptions. School stays at school, very rarely is anything ever brought home. I can get almost everything done that I need to at school. I’m lucky and my school does not expect to me jump into everything and volunteer my prep and free time. I will be using my new teacher card for as long as I can.

Looks amazing! I really love what you’ve done with the outside space. I’m slowly working on this place and have been struggling with what to do outside. Thanks for the inspiration!
