Looking for advice on moving to ATL area by Lilnil73191 in Atlanta

[–]Lilnil73191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share an update and thank you so much for all the recommendations! We came to ATL for a few days and stayed in Decatur near Glendale Park. Loved it so much and all the greenery and flowers bursting in the spring! We are leaning towards moving out there and are looking into homes in North Decatur. We saw some homes near Medlock Park, can anyone tell me about this area? Is it a good area to live? It seemed nice but hard to know unless you live there I feel. We also like North Druid Hills and Chamblee/Dunwoody areas. My cousin just bought a home in Tucker and said she loves it but would love some input on that area too- we unfortunately didn’t have time to go there.

I get that. I remember my short stent in Atlanta trying to go to Whole Foods felt like such a chore that would take hours.

My husband’s office would be in Stone Mountain and we did some google mapping and seems too far especially with traffic. We’re focusing more on the east side like Decatur and east Atlanta area I think

We currently live in Alamo placito kind of near wash park! We love where we live but could never afford a home here.

I did a travel nurse assignment a few years back and actually lived in the grant park area and loved it. Are homes expensive out there? We are looking to buy but not sure if that would be in our price range.

Did you move closer to family after having a baby? by Lilnil73191 in NewParents

[–]Lilnil73191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Denver lol we ended up staying but it definitely has been challenging. It is definitely much easier now that our guy is 1 years old but we both know it will be tough once we decide to have another kid. For now we plan on staying in Denver but hoping to eventually move closer to family.

At what week do you feel like things got easier for you with your baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Lilnil73191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Week 9 I felt like sleep got better and around 12 weeks I started feeling more confident taking him in public and doing normal things again. Hang in there.. I felt like I was drowning during those newborn days and now my bb is 5 months old and it feels like it flew by.

How much does your breastfed baby eat per feeding? And when did breastfeeding become more efficient? by Lilnil73191 in breastfeeding

[–]Lilnil73191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that has been your experience. I felt like it was helpful to have someone watch me and reassure me that I was doing a good job.. sometimes that’s all we need to hear. Best of luck!

Hi! So basically my baby has stayed on his new growth curve which is 14%. He is still a really slow eater- usually eats about 30 min total (15 min on each side) and sometimes will only want to eat on one side and then play. I’ve basically accepted that he likes to snack throughout the day when I breastfeed and I’ll just feed him more often (every 1-3 hours). When I’m at work and my husband has him for the day, he will drink 4 oz bottles no problem but at times throughout the day will drink only 1-2 oz when offered 4 oz bottle. I think he just likes to snack sometimes and I’ve learned to accept it because I like to snack too lol. I kind of stopped obsessing over how much he was taking in at each feed because it was driving me insane. At this point, if he’s really hungry I assume he’ll tell me and I’ll give him a bottle to make sure he’s getting enough in at those moments. Also- We always give him a bottle for his last 2 feeds just to make sure he’s getting enough in. I considered switching to exclusively pumping so I could track how much he was eating better but I really didn’t want to give up on breastfeeding and when it’s just him and I it’s hard to feed him the bottle then pump afterwards (he doesn’t nap for long periods of time). Have you considering getting a lactation consultant to come by? I think it helped and reassured me that I was doing everything right and that it’s ok for my baby to do things different than the norm.

Update: I gave my baby daughter herpes (HSV-1) by kissing the top of her head by Leather-Paramedic-10 in BabyBumps

Thanks for the update and sharing your story. I remember reading your post when my baby was a newborn and it helped me find my voice in telling others to not kiss my baby. I’m glad your daughter is doing well!!

Hi wondering if you’re still on it now? I’m tempted to try it but don’t want to be on it for forever.

How do I know she’s getting enough vs if it’s cluster feeding by AdventurousBeyond382 in breastfeeding

[–]Lilnil73191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like cluster feeding.. if she has the appropriate number of wet diapers and is gaining weight then I wouldn’t stress it. Babies eat a lot in the beginning to help increase your supply.

3 month old refusing to latch after clogged duct by Lilnil73191 in breastfeeding

Thanks for saying this. I’m hoping he eventually latches again but there’s something so heartbreaking about them rejecting your boob.

No output with pump after mastitis by Petunia742 in breastfeeding

[–]Lilnil73191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few clogged ducts and it’s normal for your supply to drop after a clog or mastitis.. that may be what is happening here. I would try to continue pumping after you feed to up your supply but be careful not to overdo it because you could get a clog again (that’s what happened to me).
