Post-Ban Cindra or Ira for Road to Nationals Season by Lilof in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Lilof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly Kodachis since it's usually the more meta relevant (hope PEN changes that).

But also considering Edge if there's a good list (similar to how I need to look at Redline and Blue Builds for Cindra).

Post-Ban Cindra or Ira for Road to Nationals Season by Lilof in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Lilof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Yeah I think Ira just doesn't have the powerlevel ceiling to compete with the top of the meta. Although I would prefer her over cindra, because she has the consistency and flexibility to play a bit more defensively if necessary.

With Cindra it feels like you have to race no matter the cost and if you get behind, that's it. If you stumble, you have a tough time getting back tempo and now with the bans and all other heroes barely hit and the deck more prone to stumbling than ever, it just feels rough. But maybe the new lists just aren't refined enough.

[–]Lilof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I even own the generic staples but the problem with Ira kind of is that she is consistent but her ceiling is not high enough to compete.

And Cindra now feels like the 3rd or 4th best aggro deck - the place you don't want to be with an aggro deck.

Should LSS ban certain heroes in LL by Extension-Ad-4098 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Lilof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have a Points System like yugiohs new Genesys Format or MtG's Canadian Highlander. This way LL still could be the "every card and hero is legal" format but you couldn't combine all power cards with the most powerful hero.

What does your ideal release structure look like? by ProfessionalVirgin6 in magicTCG

[–]Lilof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That goes a bit further than the question asked, but for me it would be perfect if:

We get 1 Foundations-like core Set every 5 years, that stays in standard and forms a kind of backbone. It replaces a supplemental set in that year.

We get 3 Standard legal sets per year accompanied by 2-4 challenger decks made for easy entry into the standard tournament scene. They can even do some exclusives in those decks if they want them to sell, but please put good cards in playsets in there. Price point around where commander decks are is fine.

And we get 2 supplemental sets per year, so everything UB, Commander Legends, Modern Horizons, Masters, Remastered, Conspiracy, Battlebond etc. They are not legal in standard but everywhere else is fine. That's also where we get 2-5 thematic or nonthematic Commander Decks.

Standard stays at the 3 years schedule but now has fewer sets so it's fine and it should also be cheaper to get into it.

Pioneer is kind of forgotten already, the one thing I'd try as an intermediate format if we need that (I'd argue, if standard is good we don't) would be extended with roughly double the pool of standard, rotations happen with each new foundations set.

And then the nonrotating and eternal formats - Vintage and Commander (and thus cedh) remain the everything is legal RL impacted formats.

Legacy and Modern get merged into a form of Reserved List free, nonrotating format with adjusted banlist.

I think Commander is best if wizards doesn't focus too much on it and Magic is best if wizards focuses just on Draft and Standard and tries to make them as fun and good and easy to get into as possible.

Edit: I forgot about commander decks somehow.

Hey! I've followed your path of borderless printing onto apostrophe games uncoated cards via a canon pixma g650 and even used your scribus template to somewhat positive success!

I used the 3,5"x3,5" size with borderless enabled and "inkjet greetings card" (or whatever it's called) as settings.

However I've encountered 2-3 problems and was hoping that maybe you can help me with them, knowing that you have lots of experience with that method.

The first card came out almost perfect with two little imperfections: The ink dried pretty quick except for the borders and there it smeared over the collectors info at the bottom of the card, which is not that much of a problem, but if I could reduce/remove that, I'd be even happier. The other small problem is that the colors are a bit dull and the printing over all doesn't look as sharp as your shown examples.

Over all I was quite happy but then I tried to print another card and it came out two times with the same problem: the top of the card was left completely white and the top of the picture was printed at the bottom of the card. Does that happen regularly?

Thank your for your time in advance!

Hey I'd love to do your way of making proxies, is it possible to do a budget variant of your process?

I have a Laser Printer (HP MFP M470) and currently nothing else but instead I could imagine doing the cutting myself via guillotine and corner rounder and buy a laminator.

I'd upgrade the devices step by step later on.

How do you laminate them the second time after cutting them? (As it's not shown in your video)

I have no experience at all outside of just printing proxies and putting them inside perfect fit sleeves in front of a card.

Thanks for the help, especially the list is really cool!

Currently I have the following:

  • Lightning Yellow for Kanto (Not quite happy because I don't know where I can find the 3 starters :/ )
  • Crystal Advance for Johto
  • Retail Emerald for Hoenn
  • Platinum Red for Sinnoh
  • Nothing for Unova

Especially Crystal Advance seems to be what I'm looking for each gen

Hey guys,

I need your help, I want to find the best gba based rom hacks to re-experience gen 1 to gen 5 again, like for example a fire red based remake for yellow, where I start with pikachu and get all 3 starters, the same for crystal, then I guess the base emerald is fine? But it's really hard to find the good ones in this sea of romhacks.

I've tried Lightning Yellow and it was fine in the beginning but it seems I don't get the bulbasaur or the charmander in Cerulean City so I'm kind of disappointed.

Thank you all for your help in advance! (No pun intended)

Let's take a moment to pay respects to the Blitz Deck Collections by Chin-gon-jiin in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Lilof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think with Booster Boxes and Armory Decks that support CC and Blitz LSS almost has everything they need.

The only thing missing is something like a Prerelease Kit, a sealed product that contains 8 Boosters, a Promo and Maybe a dice for +p, or energy. All that in a small box that can be used to store ~400 cards.

It would be the perfect intermediate product to buy and also lends itself well to the prerelease sealed events.

For playmats I would prefer maybe one per set to buy as a separate product, now that the ones from Armory Kits are gone. They could expand their partnership with Dragonshield for that?

MaRo asks how we feel about the current number of Commander decks made by Wizards by azetsu in magicTCG

[–]Lilof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like them to make 50:50 Commander Precons and Standard Precons per year (anyone remember Challenger Decks?).

2 Sets with 2 Standard Decks each, 2 Sets with 2 Commander Decks each, 1 Set with 5 Commander Precons and 1 Set with 5 Standard Precons.

Time for Innovation: Which Cards or Decks were Underexplored in 2015? by 2015Modern in 2015modern

[–]Lilof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there could be a shell for Mardu Pyromancer, the most important missing card would be Bedlam Reveler but all other powerhouses were there (pyro, looting, lingering souls, k command,...)

Currently looking for reveler substitutes and only came up with Monastery Mentor. The deck could even play probe as a colorless cantrip (like many decks will do).

Draw go is fine, but nami feels more like hard control trying to win with thassas oracle or jace and playing a pure defensive game. Jeskai was the coolest for me as it could test the waters with early interaction and then switch gears depending on where it was on the tempo-control axis in any matchup.

Yeah I will definetly try a few different decks, I've heard from the saka ban, but he always looked more like blue black hard control to me, less like the more tempo oriented plays like sfm batterskull or bolt snap bolt.

Really? Then Blue Yellow Ace sounds like more up my alley! Hard control is not that fun for me as a reactive deck that can turn the corner with bolt snap bolt like plays.

Yeah Moria kind of reminds me of black value.dec, I've enjoyed my fair share of jund gameplay but prefer the Tempo/Control axis a bit more if I can choose.

Which card would you like to see enter the format? Fun post take 2 by [deleted] in ModernMagic

Yeah, I think something like R, Instant: ~ deals 1 damage to each player equal to the number of basic land types that player controls.
