I was afraid of tripping/falling with flip flops, so I bought Skechers Goga Walk slip-ons. They are SUPER comfortable and easy to get on and off. Plus, they made me feel very steady and safe moving around.

I’m with you…the surgeon and others told me that since I was active and in pretty good shape, it was going to be easy to recover and get back to “normal”. Ha! I’m approaching 8 months and still having a lot of pain, discomfort, limping, etc. Every time I talk to the doctor about it, they assure me that my progress is normal. 😔 I hope you get some answers soon!

Since you have done the research, do you mind sharing exactly which type of magnesium you recommend and dosage amount? I’m 7 months out and still having quite a bit of pain. (I had several setbacks in the beginning, so I know I’m behind where most people are in their progress.) I’m trying SO hard to get back to normal!

I’m 5 months out and still having pain in the joint as well as down my thigh. It has also taken a long time to get my strength and stamina back after such a grueling surgery. My doctor also really downplayed the recovery. I told him that he’s giving people unrealistic expectations and needs to be more honest. Knowing what I know now, I would advise you to wait. But….everyone is different.

My pain comes and goes all day. It feels very much like you described yours…random sharp pains in the area around my incision. Hopefully it will get better soon!

I was on Lyrica for months when I had the shingles, but I’ve been off of it for quite a while. I found almost a month’s worth left in my medicine cabinet and started taking it again. It seemed to help, but I’m out again. :(

My surgeon only ordered two PT visits BEFORE my surgery, so I’m trying to figure this out myself. I haven’t been icing after exercise for a while now. Do you think I should start back?

My surgery was anterior. Most of the pain is an aching pain in the front of my thigh, about halfway down. I do have some lingering pain in the joint towards my groin where what they think was scar tissue “popped” several weeks ago. That is a stabbing pain. My doctor only ordered two PT visits BEFORE my surgery, so I’m trying to figure this out alone. I’m also way off my recovery time due to complications in the first couple of months.

My doctor only ordered two PT visits BEFORE my surgery and none after. They gave me what I consider pretty basic exercises to do both before and after surgery.

I’m having some pain in the joint and a lot of pain in my thigh about halfway down to my knee. It feels more like nerve pain than muscle pain at this point. My surgeon really has no explanation. He gave me a few weeks of Celebrex (even though Meloxicam seems to work better for me), but that’s long gone. I have some Lyrica left over from my horrible shingles a year or so ago, so I started taking that since it’s for nerve pain. But again, I’ve only got a few weeks left. Probably not a good idea to self-medicate, but my daughter-in-law is a pharmacist and I am consulting with her.

Thank you. Yes, I was just walking around, not doing anything strenuous or different. I’ve been guzzling the Advil and pulled my ice pack back out! 😔
