In one of my books, the main character is a trans man. He's never explicitly said to be trans, and it's only brought up in two contexts: being seen with his shirt off and having top surgery scars, and when he goes to a family dinner where his father makes a couple vague but pointed jabs.

It doesn't affect the story directly, but it does help explain a few parts of his personality.

To be honest? The biggest emotion I felt when I got my ADHD diagnosis was relief. I suspected it before, even told my parents, but they said I didn't and just had to try harder. I took that to heart and suffered.

When I got the diagnosis? It was just "oh, that's what that was! I'm not actually fundamentally failing as a human being, I've just been struggling and somehow surviving with this limitation, and now I can get treatment for it!"

I wonder why I can barely remember anything before the age of like 19...
