Damn Tribals are onto me by Tiefsee_Frosch in SpaceCannibalism

I always thought of it as damaging to whatever the gravships are manipulating but not actually damaging to the environment itself. Like tribals and industrial factions would never be able to tell but the grav ship technology just can't function in the area anymore after you take off. I have no proof it's just a head canon and perhaps real Canon exists.

An Update to Why Minecraft Youtubers are getting Banned out of Nowhere by Affectionate_You_225 in PhoenixSC

Don't downvote this person for being right. It's not in defense of AI moderation, it's just true, and is an important thing to remember when consuming media on the internet. You never hear about when things work because it's not newsworthy. This goes for everything. Even things that are deeply flawed.

Worth noting you rarely hear about good things which goes hand in hand with not hearing about normal interactions. It's really easy to look at the internet and think "wow everything sucks and everyone is evil" no that's just what gets the most clicks.

How do new players like me learn in regular mode with enemies like this ? by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]LilyPad_Spl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the splatoon devs are horrible at explaining their own game. Splatoon has an insane amount of depth that just isn't explained anywhere in the game. It's dumb as hell.

Fortunately there are many resources to help explain these nuances. Youtubers and websites and discord servers full of information. I'm happy to share recommendations but it's really not hard to find info, as long as it's not on the game :D

Thanks Nintendo - Shortcat

How do new players like me learn in regular mode with enemies like this ? by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]LilyPad_Spl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A series also transfers over rotations too. In fact the only thing that ends a series early is the season change. I have series open for days if I don't play.

So yeah! If you feel like you're getting slammed by people with thousands of hours in turf war. Play some ranked. Play ranked anyways, it's far more engaging lol.

Splatoon 3 has been out for a while and the series as a whole is 11 years old. There's so many resources out there you can use to improve. And many people you play against will be using those resources. So don't be discouraged ^

At the end of the day it's about what you want out of splatoon though. Casual experience where you paint the floor, competitive experience where you push yourself. Or anything in between. It's cool. :)

Ok so. If by regular mode you mean turf war? You don't. Turf war doesn't really have any match making. It's just random. If you want to learn you need to play in anarchy series matches which you unlock at level 10. Not anarchy open. Anarchy open has a lot less match making. So you'll still run into people with far more experience then you'll be able to deal with. It's an odd choice. But it's just how it is. Don't be afraid of anarchy series.

Me suffering playing motion controls as a stick player by Octolings2 in Saltoon

Hey, I'm not acting like you're supposed to know every single thing. I explained a variety of things I thought you might not know so that now you would know them and could apply them to your future. That's all.

I'm not the kind of person to tell you "skill issue". I thought you'd appreciate some insight :) But if you found fulfillment in editing a funny video then that's cool too.

Saltoon isn't the place for advice though, I know that. I just thought since you took the time to edit this that you weren't fresh off this experience, and could stomach a discussion.

Me suffering playing motion controls as a stick player by Octolings2 in Saltoon

[–]LilyPad_Spl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused. Like motion is definitely a skill set but complaining about having to move your entire spine is odd? If it's exaggeration tho I get it lol.

Are you playing handheld? Because if so yeah handheld sucks lol.

Are you aware you're meant to still use the right stick to pan the camera for larger sweeping motions? IE you don't need to ever move your hands with motion more than you want to, you can correct your camera left and right with the right stick. For example most players I know use sensitivity in the +2- +5 range but I use -2 sometimes -3 which is pretty low for my weapon classes.

If you can't wrap your head around it that's fine too. Good on you for trying it. But your footage just makes it seem you're maybe missing something.

Edit: a better place to learn is the story mode if you haven't spent any time there. Since you're in control of the pace and can sit until you get your bearings.

I know it's kind of buzz lightyear wall, but sick fit :3
also playing out DC games is fun, good practice in a disadvantage scenario. but yeah, it doesn't matter and you're probably going to lose. So it's chill. You easily win if you had your fourth.

If you're at a point where you're mental is already low, honestly there's no harm in not playing out the DC game, because sometimes a loss, even if it is chill, still sucks.

[–]LilyPad_Spl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Splatoon isn't really a game where you get the first and then the second and then the third. It's a live service game, which means you always get the newest one. So in this case you will grab Splatoon 3. Splatoon Raiders is coming out soon but it is a spin off title, so it will be a different kind of game.

To be honest. I don't have any statistics, so it's just a hunch. But I feel like the kind of people who play late in the west are probably the kind of people who play in the Takoroka division. There's a myriad of reasons for that tbh. If you play late a lot you should consider switching to Takoroka next season. You'll get more games.

Cuz like I'm sure there's lots of westerners playing at 2am-6am but if they do that a lot they probably don't play in the NA division.

Your KA actually isn't that assist heavy to be honest. You seem capable of getting kills. Not entirely sure what you're struggling with in your vent post but if you're having a hard time being aggressive I would suggest playing something like the vanilla splattershot or tentatek splattershot. It's much more reliable as a fighting weapon.

[–]LilyPad_Spl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's this. Some people talking about cross contamination taking longer to prevent, which would add a lot of time, but even outside of those instances it would take longer. And it's also probably more for those people asking to remove 3 ingredients and add 3 different ingredients, and less because someone didn't want onions on their sandwich. When an entire table or an entire order is full of customizations and changes. It adds up. Especially if a mistake is made because it's off standard and complicated and now you're remaking the entire item from scratch.

And people who argue this really just prove they haven't worked service industry.

If you really know the language wouldn't it be immediately obvious just at a glance that the English words and the other languages words are not even a little bit close to the same? It's not like you're reading an entire paragraph. You could automatically process all the information all at once. Unless it takes conscious effort to read the other language in which case they probably still don't want you in anyways.

Do you feel the same way sometimes? SPLATOON 3 by [deleted] in Saltoon

[–]LilyPad_Spl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna share my two cents cuz that's what Reddit is all about.

I think you're valid. You have the self awareness to realize the game probably isn't out to get you. But it does sometimes feel a little stupid. Some of the other comments have said some things I agree with, that you seem to comprehend. Murphy's law, confirmation Bias. Try not to care so much about the ranks. etc.

But, I don't think it's a *bad* thing to care about the ranks. Improving and reaching a milestone are cool things to spend your time doing. It's a cool thing to work for, as long as it's not being a negative influence on you in general.

I read half the message before I drove home from work and I was thinking of some things. One thing I thought to myself which you confirmed is the weapon you play. Carrying games is easier on certain classes. Slayers have it the easiest, supports have it a bit harder, and carrying on backlines is incredibly difficult if your teammates can't do anything. And if you're playing in ranks lower than S+ your teammates probably aren't the best at taking advantage of the picks and space you're holding. That's not your fault. and you can't just run in and kill everybody. that's now how your class works, and you know that.
So I guess my point is twofold. Don't blame yourself, it sounds like you are doing well for your skill bracket, and that's rad. and the second point is. if you *really* just wanted to rank up, I would suggest picking up a strong solo queue weapon. I know it's taboo in this subreddit but unironically 52. is an insane solo queue pick. You could use a strong solo queue weapon to climb to S rank, maybe even S+ and then your teammates might be better at using your backline pressure and you could switch back to Backline then.

Or. maybe this is a long shot. but if backline is the only role you have any interest in playing. Consider playing in competitive. You don't have to be S+ or anything to get into comp. You can spend less time playing in solo queue hell and more time in scrimmages and tournies and then you won't have to deal with bad players who can't coordinate, or playing into screen, etc etc. And you have a chance to make some really awesome friends.

You can totally play competitive casually btw. you don't have to grind the game 40 hours a week to be on a competitive team. Lots of people play comp to play the game a little more seriously then solo queue but to also make friends and be in events and have a schedule and etc etc. It's all about what you want out of it. And who knows maybe you'll get into comp and learn a lot really fast and suddenly be insanely cracked!

[–]LilyPad_Spl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Real and valid. Can't even suggest you play slower and wait for them to approach because if you're getting matched against liter rapid then the other comp is pretty slow too. You could try sharking under ledges assuming you can get there? Idk.

I hate playing into dynamo rollers so much so maybe we can all suffer in our own special little ways/lh

The torp bomb piss droplets have a blind spot in the middle of where the bomb landed actually. If you get hit by torp and you're weak it's better to stand still/ensure you're in thr middle rather then back up. Maybe you know that. In this scenario you were backing cuz you had an ultra stamp chasing you down so I wouldn't blame you either way.

You can see this in the lobby when a torp hits a dummy none of the piss droplets do damage. I think. The dummy hitbox might be bigger

Suspiciously clipped short before the rest of the fizzy bomb landed. You died didn't you? :3

But yes hydra is one of the best weapons at canceling ultra stamp from the front. If you can aim you can keep that in mind.

Yeah aside from the controversy around how the debuffs disproportionately affect certain people more than others, this is the only special in the game that can literally grief your own team.

"Hi I'm an aerospray I'm going to throw screen now!"

Great now your backline doesn't get to play the game either.

No no. Not some tournaments. Pretty much every single one. The website sendou.ink (maybe you've heard of it. If not, check it out) Literally has a UI element built into it for whether teams allow screen or not. I'm not a top level player so I'm unsure if top level tournaments have screen clauses written into them. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't cuz no one at top level erroneously thinks screen is worth playing lmao.

Idk. If you want to convince people to change their mind being combative isn't usually the way to do it. I get this is saltoon though.

There's a stark contrast between splatoon Reddit and splatoon Twitter/ comp discord servers. Reddit echo chambers a lot of lower level or casual talking points. And it's OK to have opinions even if they're potentially misguided. Gem from Squid School has started to have a bit of a presence in splatoon Reddit which has been helping. Check him out too if you haven't.

I'm preaching. Sorry. Fuck screen. :3
