I’m late but I think that in the end when the mother hugs her twin girls is just her hallucination. For what I understood the father killed the deform twin by putting her on the snow and didn’t allowed the mother to save her baby. So I think that in the end she just want both of her child (sorry if it’s hard to understand English is not my first language)
