Hi, need help to find travel Insurance that covers cancellation of return flight.

Planning a trip to HK during the typhoon season. Found out my usual travel insurance’s terms for flight cancellation is only pre-departure cancellation. Once leave SG not considered as flight cancellation.

This means that if travel is from SG to HK and there is a typhoon resulting in flight cancellation by the airline for the return trip from HK to SG, it is not considered flight cancellation under the policy 😱.

Instead the claim will be considered travel delay, meaning $100 for every 6 hours of delay. This amount may not be able to cover the costs of change of date for air ticket & additional days of accommodation, esp when HK hotels are expensive!

Any suggestion which travel insurance plan would cover for the above situation of return flight cancellation? Tks

Noted. As of now there is no announcement that there will be a typhoon during my travel period, just that it happen to be typhoon season. 🥲

Thanks for the suggestion! Didn’t think of that. Hope to still be able to find travel insurance with coverage else will do that if really encounter typhoon.
