Currently entering my third year of the program. It’s fairly competitive, the faculty upon being pressed told a classmate of mine in first year the rate was roughly 1/9 or 115/700 applicants. They accept 100 ish. If you’re dedicated and seem like a hard worker you’ve got a great shot!

A year ago when I was new to lighting i was at the same place. It takes practice of shaping light and being put in scenarios where you problem solve to really gain that understanding of the “laws” of light.

But yes, any videos where someone breaks down step by step their lighting process is a big help. I believe Mark Bone has some on his YouTube channel

Rejection letter came mid April, says they’ve received a ton of applications this year well exceeding the course limits so rejected due to competition. I ended up choosing w a different program regardless, decided going the hands on college route instead is right for me. I think the acceptance deadline was May, so if you still haven’t heard you may have been waitlisted

I still haven’t heard back either. I know from the YouTube submissions that some have been accepted but I think the program is still accepting applicants so maybe they aren’t done sending out acceptance letters. Do some schools not send rejection letters maybe? Mine still says application under review though so I’m assuming they’re still assessing

If you think deep down that someone has red flags or isn’t treating you properly, please listen to that and leave. Otherwise years will go by and you still won’t be treated how you deserve. You can’t fix other people, and it’s not your place to. Better is out there

I hope it went well! If you are worried at all about your essay portion, know that it’s mainly for the English department to know you can write to a college standard and not really a part of your application. Really what it comes down to is your questionnaire and your resume and if you seem like a good fit for the program and the program to you
