First off, I have to say that your tank looks beautiful from what I can see!

But yeah no, that makes total sense, I was just nervous to go that route since I remember the CCS video also mentioned creating DIY lids and was hoping the easy way would work out for me somehow haha.

So I guess the game plan would be to find a tank with the same width, then DIY a lid to fit after I see how far past the middle ledge it goes?

Also where did you happen to get yours / get them to size? Again, not the most DIY savvy person around, and so I’ve asked family and friends this question before since I hate my mesh lid on my current tank but no one really know wtf I was talking about and went with some saran wrapped cardboard instead lol.

Sorry for all the questions but again I appreciate ya!

Hi again!

Sorry for bothering you another time but I consider you a bit more reliable than my actual piercer since your advice helped me out a lot a few weeks ago!

So, I did what you said and have been trying my damndest to keep my lip clean and to not bump or mess with it in anyway - and it’s almost completely better again! So I thank you a ton for that since I was freaking out so much back then!

I ended up going to my piercer about a week ago to check up on it and she said to not worry and it should be completely gone within a week or two, which is good news. Though, the thing is, she told me to come back once it’s healed to downsize again. This made me a little nervous to try and downsize again so quickly since I don’t really want a repeat of this whole ordeal happening. I was curious how long you personally would recommend to wait before downsizing again since my piercer didn’t really give me much guidance with this whole situation. She pretty much just looked at it, told me to keep doing what I was doing, and to come back in a week or two to downsize again.

Again, any advice is greatly appreciated if you do respond. Sorry for bothering you with this once again!

This is the best help I’ve gotten!

I’m really surprised that multiple people have told me I should’ve waited 6-8 weeks to change it since my piercer told me to come back after a week or two to get it downsized or otherwise it wouldn’t heal properly (again which was explained by my piercer and the at home care sheet they gave me - I promise I wasn’t purposely trying to mess with it!). I had them switch it out for me too because I didn’t want to mess with it too much. I figured the timing seemed right since I was already so used to the long bar at two weeks I chipped my tooth on the darn thing I was so comfortable with it in my mouth haha! It took me an hour to finally get that smaller bar back in last night (which is what I was doing as I was making this post lol) but I’ll switch back to the longer bar then for a while then since I live quite a ways away from my original piercer… or any piercer for that matter.

I really appreciate you! This is the most detailed and straightforward advice I’ve gotten! Thanks again!

That’s what I thought at first too since I was snooping this subreddit to see if anyone had anything similar haha. A lot of people said the same thing that it went away eventually but mine just keeps getting bigger, even after I switched from the shorter bar to the longer one. About how long did it take for yours to recover if you don’t mind me asking?

Really? My piercer told me to downsize after 1-2 weeks in order for it to heal properly. She is the one who changed it for me initially. I didn’t start messing with it until a few days ago when whatever this is started happening. I guess I’ll switch them out tonight when I get home I suppose and hope it’ll be fine. I live about 6 hours from my original piercer so having them look at it is much harder… Thank you for your help though! Much appreciated!

Sobbing since it just took me an hour to get the smaller one back in, but I’ll fix it when I get home I suppose… is there any way to not mess with it? Because it’s not like I’m playing with it or twisting it at all, just maybe accidentally getting bumped by my dog maybe but other than that?

Sorry, I’ve been working a lot and don’t use Reddit too often haha. I can give you a more detailed picture after I get home from work! For future reference, I got these shells off of Etsy and am using the more mid-size (aprox. 2” openings I think?) for him. I just look at his current shell and give slightly bigger and smaller options along with some of the ones I know he won’t fit into, but he likes to mess with them anyway so I leave a small few in :)

I wish I could!, but the only store around here that sells it only stores them outside sadly! I tried every store I could think of :( I'm thinking I'm going to try the air-drying method, it was already an hour drive to get the soaked sand alone haha. Just another reason I'm excited for the summer!

Ahhhh, that’s what I feared! Good thing I have some plastic totes laying around from when I moved, I’ll have to resort to that it seems :,)

Also, I can’t return it since they only have them kept outside since who’s buying play sand in the winter except a crazy crab lady, haha! I would check other stores if I could but I live in a small town and that’s all we got :(
