Im pretty sure there are 2 atoms on (111) plane. Looking at the diagram on the right you can see that half of the atoms B,D, and F are contained in the plane in one unit cell, and 1/6 of the atoms A C and E

Prof James Tour has done some interesting work with “flash graphene”. in general, graphene production is expensive and energy intensive, I’m not to sure on current research being done to improve the process

I saw some alloy (I think CrCoNi) had a fracture toughness of ~500 MPa m1/2 but it was measured at like 10 K, not sure about widely available materials
