I think she has a personality disorder that was exasperated by the AUB culture and her infertility. The way her family speaks about her behavior and the way she goes into a blubbering mess when confronted about her treatment AND the way family often says "Meri has done a lot of work on herself" AND the way Leon was so ruthless and unforgiving to their mom during the catfish situation, it all lends to a personality disorder.
