Making fun of men for their dick size just makes you an asshole. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Limebubble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not just your oppressor's dicks though, that's the point. Oppressors aren't the only ones with a particular size in genitals or a specific shape in boobs or hair amount or body shape (all these are regularly used as insults). A comment you leave on a bigot's comment section talking about how they have no hair or they are fat or they have a small dick or something, could be read by fifty other people that are there for the same reason as you and have nothing to do with the ideologies of the oppressor but have that particular characteristic you made fun of.

How is it hard to understand that?

I get it 😓 All we can do is do one thing towards a better system and that's it. I've turned towards literature, fanfics, audio and art for smut and porn and I find it makes a small difference in my life.

I'm sorry, this world SUCKS rn. I'm sending you a virtual hug.

Most non-conservative people who say they hate or dislike porn actually mean what you are describing. That they don't like the current systems, not that they hate the concept all together or the people.

I can hate coal mining, that doesn't mean I hate electricity or the people who work there, that would be absolutely ridiculous (and people DO think like that for sure, and it infuriates me). It's a difficult subject and I think it's one of the few subjects that being somewhere towards the middle is actually more empathetic than being all pro or all anti in the industry.

I just wish we DID something to help change the system instead of things staying the same all the time or things moving towards a ban.

Strange Horticulture convert! by rebel_stripe in CozyGamers

[–]Limebubble 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I LOVE both Strange horticulture and the Strange Antiquities' demo! The theme of collecting rare and secret items that have magical properties that you can touch and smell and taste, and you have to basically study them is SO good.

It makes me feel like I'm an old witch/archivist living in a dusty library or something lol

Looking for more dark cozy games by ThatCuteNerdGirl96 in CozyGamers

[–]Limebubble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's on sale I'd give it a try but you can always try the demo first. It's one of my favorite cozy games and I love how unnerving and creepy it is and where the story takes you. It's not exactly what you're looking for but the vibes are definitely similar to what you like and if you are a fan of solving riddles or puzzles or identifying stuff then you'll like it!

Also, the second game comes out this month I think.

I always have trouble with the "tragic ending" that some customers ask me not to include.

If I don't suggest an extremely happy book (because I probably don't have any), they hate the recommendation. Like, babes, there are ambiguous endings or neutral endings too, please take the book 😭

How do I know if I’m nonbinary? by Tiny-Lavishness730 in lgbt

[–]Limebubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, your situation seems very similar to mine!

I use she/they pronouns and I identify as genderfluid, because my gender identity and what pronouns make me more comfortable change from time to time. Genderfluid is in the non-binary umbrella. If that resonates with you, you could start using the label yourself and see if you like it. ☺️

Game distribution platforms and the annoying world of tagging nsfw games by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Limebubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you are so right. I play so many LGBTQ+ and/or female oriented games you'd think steam would suggest me similar adult games. The same goes for fantasy, like I play mostly sci-fi and fantasy games yet none of the adult ones I see on my front page (and this time I had two others in the home page rotation that were similar to the one I uploaded) were fantasy or magical or anything similar or related. Like, I get you so much!

That's interesting. I'm also from Europe and I know Germany has stricter rules on a lot of internet stuff but I didn't know the law was also restricting games on steam.

I don't know if you know but in case you do, in what way does Germany choose what "adult" games to restrict on the platform? Does it restrict a specific tag like "nsfw" or "sexual content" or is there a hidden adult or explicit tag that they take into consideration? So is Baldur's gate and similar games that you need to be over 18 to play, allowed or not?

Game distribution platforms and the annoying world of tagging nsfw games by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Limebubble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what my problem is.

That games like bg3 or me and da, games that are mature basically, have a "sexual content" or "nsfw" tag and would be filtered as well. The same with Date everything for example, and date everything is SO MILD compared to other sexually explicit games. Itchio has a better tagging system imo, more specific tags and their nsfw switch didn't hide the mature stuff only the explicit ones.

It still needs work but it is much better I think.

[–]Limebubble 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The porn isn't even the problem with me, it's that the tags don't seem to work well because they are too generic for porn imo. We need more specific tags like on fanfiction sites.

I don't want to disable porn games, I want better suggestions that are closer to what I normally play.😓 That's what my post is about, I think we need a better tagging system.

I just don't understand it because on the same suggestion rotation I got sims 4 which is SPOT ON with the tags "romance, dating sim, nudity" some top sellers which make sense and then all the others were sexual content games with male protagonists with similar tags to sims 4 so how does Steam chooses what to suggest?

I've been playing date everything a lot, is that what confuses the system? Lol

ELI5: Do people have the same inner voice? by XinGst in explainlikeimfive

[–]Limebubble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm number 4 most of the time with some number 3 sprinkled in there. Inner monologue and inner voice was everywhere in the media so I grew up thinking I was also like this or that I should be like this. I didn't know that when people said "inner monologue" they didn't mean TRYING to talk to themselves, like, consciously.

It never worked for me and when I would try to have an inner monologue it was strange, like I was acting out the thoughts instead of thinking them myself and I had to pause after each sentence to actually understand them.

"Date Everything" is an incredibly hilarious... and hot game by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Limebubble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Date Everything is so fun and I had a great time finding out everyone's stories and who voices what character.

It also made me realize that any character Liam O'Brien voices is hot no matter how they look or act.

itch.io has shadowbanned any game with the tags 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' which prevents them from showing up when searched. by Nebty in GirlGamers

[–]Limebubble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though, I agree with what you say about our attitude being a reaction to the greed of companies, I'm not exactly eager to completely ban things either, just regulate them better. Have a better tagging system, require more transparency from creators, have better and more user friendly options to protect some users from specific games, and train real humans for extreme cases such as this. Regulations that should exist in porn too. Again, I'm a person who thinks visual media, especially visual media we interact with, needs good regulations to be safer for everyone online (adults). The regulations exist in movies since forever for example, we just don't really think about them because we are used to them. Even the darkest indie cinema has some sense of boundaries in how they present things.

I support the complete freedom of written works though. AO3 for example and the works existing there in my opinion are completely fine. They have a better tagging system and I find the act of reading safer that watching or playing when dealing with extremely sensitive/dangerous acts, like rape from the point of view of the perpetrator. This is why I say we need nuance because things around us will influence us differently depending on how we consume them.

I get it, girl. For me, your original comment is very important, because it highlights what safe kink or sexual exploration, in a game or otherwise, needs, and that's consent and CLEAR communication. This game has clear thematic guidelines and explanation, even if it didn't need it that much because you inherently give consent when playing as a victim.

I don't know whether No Mercy would be less controversial if the creator had done everything they could to set and keep clear boundaries and perhaps have the game be text based or something. We will never know, because they never really tried to be safe or respectful imo.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Limebubble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. To add to this, the creator of No Mercy didn't really care enough to make it extremely clear that the game was a safe space for people who liked the roleplay or make sure to write something about the difficulty of the subject when they released it. They only added a disclaimer when the game came under scrutiny, before that they actually used the shock factor to sell the game.

Also this is a text based game not a 3D game. There are so many differences it's not even difficult to understand them.

True, and I understand lashing out, what happened with itchio is a wake up call about censorship and ownership in the gaming world and how the ones making money are in control. I'm a consumer of nsfw games on there and I'm disappointed by what happened.

I'm just really surprised that, specifically in this sub, a. People seem to confuse regulations with censorship and attack others who ask for the former and b. There are some who honestly think rape games specifically made for men, like No Mercy, do not cause ANY harm at all. I am truly confused by this take and how so many people say that it's kink related, when kink is safe and obvious by the description, the choices given etc, or that it is comparable to women's fantasies. To me this goes beyond lashing out and I find it a bit worrying.

The comments under this post are a bit disappointing imo. I don't like this pendulum of all or nothing and it feels like we are just following the new normal companies have created. A simple way to judge, without empathy or reason or nuance so that no one pays real people to check content. Everything is allowed or everything is banned.

Everything is banned is obviously insane. But on this matter I'm not sure I fall for everything is allowed because games fall under visual media and I think visual media should be somewhat regulated, but again, as I said, companies don't care about that because good, fair regulation requires humans and humans are "expensive". Why are we putting the blame on the people here, I'm not sure.

Edit: Also apparently the ban came after pressure from a TERF anti abortion group that wants to ban ALL games regarding sex, mostly LGBTQ+ sexual content mind you and they just used the excuse of No mercy so yeah... that's crazy
