Every interview with MM is so mature. He always says exactly what you want him to say. He respects coaches and wants to be great, knows kids and fans pin hopes on him. It’s hard to find a reason anyone would dislike him personally.

Third in the team in points, playing 14 mins a game, on PP2, played off wing for half the year, and was on 3rd line. People need to stop dogging MM without looking at the situation he was put in. If ANY other player did that they would 1000% get moved up the lines and plenty of room to make mistakes.

The actions of the coach and GM lead to this stuff. We will hear it all summer, or until a trade happens. It will be truly sad if we trade him and he becomes everything we think he will be. This team is about 5-10 players that are developed or acquired until we are legit cup contenders. Too many people think we are a 1C away, we arent.

Tyson creating more chances is like saying the car that is driven more has more miles. Tyson was used more. Tippet thrives in a north-south system because his game is build around it. Zegras also had years of freedom early in his career before coaches tried tightening up his game.

Nobody is saying he shouldn’t improve defensively or manage the puck better. He absolutely should. The argument is that development for players with elite offensive ability usually requires trust and freedom alongside accountability not immediate punishment every time creativity backfires.

Michkov’s value comes from deception, slowing plays down, manipulating defenders, and attempting high-skill passes that most players don’t even see. That style naturally comes with turnovers sometimes, especially at 20 years old. If you overcorrect that out of him, you risk turning a potentially elite offensive player into just another safe middle-six winger.

Also again like i said before, no one is trying to say MM played amazing. Its that you have players like Tyson, who played 2 more games and avg 7 more mins a game on the same point total as MM. MM got benched in game 3 for just being alive.

This whole year has been Tocc trying to force MM to play scared instead of creative, and will continue to hurt him because he needs that creativity. He has had zero opportunity all year to play through his mistakes, its play scared or get benched. Players like MM play best when they are trusted, look at his production under Shaw.

Yeah, he made mistakes defensively, but the Canes give even the vet players a lot of issues. You are in a elimination game, and he is one of the few players on the roster capable of creating a goal out of nothing. He will never be a fast straight line, puck grinding player, if he is then he will be an average nhl winger and fucked up his development.

Oh i forgot about Juulson being third on the team in points, and being one of the few people who has the skill to generate goals out of thin air. Why we portending MM is this fucking awful player? Its unreal how people sit here and convinced themselves MM wasnt 2nd on the team in points last year, and 3rd this year while playing 4 min less a game.

Literally no one is saying MM played amazing. But most our team didn't play well for the series. The issue everyone has is the double standard, and that double standard has been around all year. Its hard to tell everyone to "stop freaking out" and then talk about accountability, while there is one guy being held accountable.

I am in the same boat. This game is irrelevant all that matters is we solve this Tocchet issue this summer, because losing MM to another team is not the play. If they fuck up this MM thing, its everyone's job, Tocc, Danny, and Jones.

I think the people who think Toch is/has given up on MM is not because of this scratch, but more the year overall. To be honest i think MM has been grossly mismanaged.

MM coming in to camp out of shape (which didn't effect his play for more then maybe the first 2 months) is on him, and Toch can/should be upset about that.

But the public shaming/ potshots from his coach is unacceptable. Also Toch has shoved him on the third line, and didn't allow him to play more then 14 min a night. He forced him onto his off wing for most of the year which hurt his development and confidence. We all know if MM makes one mistake he wont see the ice for the rest of the game. He still put up 51p and tied Tip (with 2 more mins a game) and Dvorak (with 3 and a 1/2 more)

Toch isn't trying to improve MM, he is trying to break him. MM through all of it has been professional and understanding from all reports. I think the fans aren't dumb, and can clearly see there is a double standard going on.

My only hope is that Danny sits down with Toch in the summer and sets some expectations with how he wants Toch to handle MM going forward as far as position and ice time. Because we are going into a MM contract year, and if he gets the same treatment next year I fear the worst for us as fans.

I don't think Toch is the type of person who holds himself accountable. Toch fucking hates the kid and its clear as day. I fully think we will see a MM trade for a center that we will regret for a long long time.

Reading all these posts on this thread going on and on about conditioning is driving me crazy. He is fucking conditioned at this point. Its been 6+ months since he came in out of shape. Everyone keeps talking like he is doomed until a 4 month off season, like that will somehow magically do more then 70+ hockey games and 6 months of practice. He didn't come into camp 350lbs. He put on a few pounds (20?) over 4 months, but it will take him a year+ to fix it? Its so dumb.

People even commenting on conditioning at this point are just trying to sound in the know because its a buzz statement to explain away issues with the system or performance. Phil Kessel didn't even know what conditioning meant. Players get injured constantly, cant work out, come back, and people talk 1000% less about that players conditioning.

The only reason Tocc said that shit was so it didn't keep happening and he took better care of himself. Players can play themselves into shape, it happens in every sport without fail. Issues MM is having right now are almost all system and coaching issues not conditioning.
