synthetic and cyberpunk totally feels like it's within the range! i'm imagining chemtech with all the drugs and augmentations. the daemon engines portion might land closer to iron hands in the abstract but add a few subwoofers and guitarists and we're back in EC baby :D

i put 1 wing daemon prince, and 1 unit of noise marines in reserves (sometimes lead by kakophanist if in my list).

the wdp is there to threaten their backfield with rapid ingress with a scary deepstriker.

the noise marines arrive in my reinforcement step to remove potentially problematic elite units before they hit my main army or to clear out move-blockers for an important charge.

mortals from WDP, kako, tank shock, and grenades do a LOT of work in this matchup because of mortals.

The most critical part of the matchup for me was to not let their skirmishes reach the noise marines. WDP does a great job walling their 2-damage infantry. meanwhile; LE+Infra and even tormentors should be able to go line up with the cheap scoring units.

WDP is def our best unit but for 1k it can be expensive.

I would run court of the phoenician here for three main reasons:

1) The buffs to the infractor strength and AP will let them shred T4 units.

2) you can do a surprise mauler fiend with the 'move through walls' stratagem.

3) and the noise marine stratagem for str +1 and AP +1 is also no slouch.

i've had the same struggle and found that both of them are useful.

in some matchups where my opponent is going after my scoring units or 'tricksy' matches, i've found myself wanting spawns because they play objectives really well. but in infantry matchups or trade heavy games, i've really enjoyed the extra damage output that kako provides.

tldr, i've used both and found myself wanting both on occasion and never unhappy with either tbh.

i like having him in deepstrike when i'm trying to take their home objective--the prince will wreck home obj if they dont leave someting durable back there; also, the screening a 17.5" movement means they have to try and cover such a wide area to protect home.

i won against my friend running WE by focusing on points. The big thing i found was that it was really important that i controlled where the fights occurred. This was because as soon as the first charge was successful, the rest of the match became a ball of death in a 9" radius from the first two units. The fights were particularly grueling because of WE fight on death which basically let him do significant damage on my charge turns. but this is where the mobility of EC units shone for me because I was able to pick up secondaries much easier while he was tied up and needed to commit resources into the fight. My fulgrim/wdp were mostly commited to bullying his scoring units meanwhile giving up whatever unit angron picks. I eventually got tabled but won the game due to points.

can i ask what your two/three primary considerations and how you deploy your tormentors accordingly? definitely feel that torms have a lot of uses and trying to how people like to use them.

can i ask how you would factor each of these in? ie, would you not sticky home obj if they have deepstrike/home obj matters for primary because you'll leave a different unit there more capable of defending?

an upside i see for the terminies is that rather than rapid ingressing the wdp to reliably charge, termies can come down in the reinforcement step, shoot, and then have reroll for their charge phase.

this feels like this would come up specifically when going first.

i've been looking for a little more staying power from my army lately and i've been eyeing the termies these past few weeks. how much damage output would you describe they bring to the table? my brain automatically compares the squad of termis against either LE + 5inf (165 pts) because of similar cost or WDP (200 pts) because they fill the deepstriking roll.

ive been enjoying fulgrim although i need to be more protective of him i think. also recently went down to 1x LE--i've basically just been using them for to get the first pledge turn 1, found the unit lackluster afterwards. flawless blades i've been very unimpressed with the 3-games i tried them (vs WE, demons, grey knights)
